I was excited to find this unit so I could film my vlog and run it right into the program, which looks decent.

After installing the program (PD v, and the drivers on:
HP desktop running Windows 7 Home Premium
NVIDIA GFORCE 9100 video card
Stock HD Audio controller
AMD Athlon II X4 620 Processsor

everything installed properly. I registered the product, checked for driver updates, and got an account.

The ol' Sony Hi8 Handycam CCD-TR400 is running through the included RCA cables to a working USB 2.0 drive on the back of the tower.

I rewind the tape in the cam and hit play.

The program opens fine, and I switch to CAPTURE.

POPUP: "Unable to load disc content. Does not contain any content supported by Cyberlink PowerDirector.

I tried the help menu, and a help pdf on the PD website, but to no avail.

I've tried changing the drive, but the only options I'm given are disc and hard drives. I don't see the USB ports on the list, so I don't know if the program is even seeing the camera.

I tried changing the capture source, but all of the sources except for -from tv- and -a microphone- and -DVD camcorder or AVCHD camcorder- are available. The rest are greyed out.

So finally, I'm here. I really need to get this project going ASAP, so any help is appreciated. My Skype is Josiah.Valo if anyone would like to walk me through this directly. That would be AWESOME.

I have had PD 9 for about a year and until recently had used it very little. I am now trying to make a more complex video consisting of about 15 different clips with transisions. Several tech support messages later still not working (hang or error message when producing video regardless of output format). Just wondering after searching the web and seeing many hundreds of negative comments and very few positive if anyone has this running on their computer successfully. Can anyone recommend an alternative program that is relatively trouble free?

PD9 is an excellent program. I suspect you may be missing an update. All these other video programs have issues too, it is almost always a hardware/software collision.
Searching the web for anything will produce many more negative comments than positive, it's human nature.
As for another program, of course, there are dozens, but this is a Cyberlink-owned forum, and recommending other programs is prohibited.
As a last shot, would you please provide us with PART A and B from the following link, the B will tell us your computer's innards and maybe a clue on what is wrong. No personal info is in the Dxdiag file you will create and ATTACH as a file.

Good luck.

Thanks for the response, will persevere but really do find this frustrating. When you buy something you do expect it to work. Tracy from tech support is assisting me so will see how that turns out. Will attach Dxdiag file , is my computer adequate to run PD properly?

Since you assholes hijacked my thread and made it about your problems, I still haven't gotten the software to work on a mac or a PC.

So screw you all, I returned the whole thing to Staples.

Peace.

Actually, I was not paying proper attention and assisted in the hi-jack. My bad.

Reaction did seem a bit harsh. Very sorry to have broken etiquette. Will start a new thread...
