I did some googling and there is another (obvious) option. Use the Burn as a AVCHD to a "Removable Disk" and point it a memory card compatible with your Sony Cam then use the Cam as the player to your AV System. The downside is you will need to store the finished project on memory sticks (or copy them to the memory stick when you want to play them) + you would have to use your cam as the player. but the purpose is to give copies to family members who have BluRay players but are not too tech savvy.
It's no problem for my own use as I have media players and computers all over the house.

I was going to try the AVCHC disc but they are dvds and the project is larger than a DVD can store.

Try the work around of creating a AVCHD "Disc" using the portable drive option then burn it to a BD using ImgBurn. Of course it will only work with some players (that support AVCHD) but.... worth a go. PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD
