Hi Guys,
Hopefully you will get my attachments below so I can see if anyone is able to produce smooth video from this source.
I have been working on my project for quite some time but only produce HalfSBS mp4 files for testing on my home theatre.
I am now trying to test a fullHD 1080/24p BluRay burn and have dicovered I get some frame judder but also something like a snap to sync(Video Jump) every second.

In order to test I have produced this 8 second clip.
If I produce to file 2d AVCHD 1080/24p (the same as the source) the problem occurs.
If I produce to 720/50p or 1080/50p to judder is reduced considerably and the Jump every second disappears completely

I Hope someone may have some ideas. I have the latest patch for 11 and the latest drivers for NVidia.

Thanks
Rod

Your 3dTestJudderSony.MTS clip is 25fps NOT 24fps so as you have reported:
1) you will see judder every second if encoding back to 24fps as you will drop 1fps each second (4% of the content)
2) there is no judder at 50p/i as it is an exact multiple or match of the original frame rate

Hi

I agree with jmone the original clip is 25 fps and the produced clip is 24 fps (23.976 to be exact).

Try Producing again using 25 fps

Here's the information from Media Info that's a tad more accurate than PD

Under the Produce Tab click on "Intelligne SVRT" and it should suggest a profile close to what your clip is but I'd guess you should be using the default "AVC 1920x1080/50i (24mbps)" profile PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD

Hi CHF, I guess it is because it it a 3D clip, if you click on Produce --> 3D --> then Intelligent SVRT, PD suggests the AVC 1920x1080/50i (24 Mbps) profile is the go.... but I would have thought it would also suggest the same in 2D instead of nothing.

Thanks Guys,
Some great feedback there. (I am in Perth)

So I understand now why 50i gets rid of Judder.
The problem is I need to produce a Bluray. The only options I have are 1920x1080/24p or 1280x720/50p when I go to the create disc menu. if I go 1280x720/50p then I am going to lose resolution.

If there was a 25p option I would definately select that.

Thanks

My understanding is the "Official Spec" for 3D BD is only:
•1920×1080 @ 23.976 fps progressive
•1280×720 @ 59.94 fps progressive
•1280×720 @ 50 fps progressive

But as you have seen with your Camcorder, the AVCHD (of which BD is a subset) has a wider set of options, including for 3D:
•1920×1080 @ 23.976 fps progressive
•1280×720 @ 59.94 fps progressive
•1280×720 @ 50 fps progressive
PLUS
•1920×1080 @ 60 and 50 fps interlaced

So you have a couple of choices
1) Burn at 1920×1080 @ 23.976 fps progressive and put up with the judder
2) Burn at 1280×720 @ 50 fps progressive and live with lower res (note: you may not see any difference in the resolution change and this is definatly a potentially good option)

OR....cheat and see if this works
3) Burn as a AVCHD to a "Removable Disk" with the with the HD 1920x1080/50i (or even the high bit rate progressive 50p (28Mbps) profile) with the AVCHD 3D output format (you could try the others). Once it is created on the "removable disk" use another program like Imgburn to burn the folders to the disc. Put in the player and see if it works!

thanks Jmone,
Thats sad news. I was hoping to distribute a bluray that looked great and bought the camera because it could do 3d 1080p.
I guess I'll know what to look for next time.

I did try the 1280x720/50p but my samsung BD player had trouble processing it. I'll try again.

That is always the hard bit with new tech - your Cam supports a "new" format but then you may need a TV or Player to also support it. Don't give up try the "hack" I suggested as it may work (but if you player is struggling with 50p then it may simply not have the processing power for high bit rate material). Hi Rocketman

In the Create Disc mode I found this profile using Side by Side Half Width that allows a H.264 1920x1080 50i burn to Blu-ray, that may be of help to you.

As I don't own a 3D camera, I have no idea what this means

Thanks Neil,
Unfortunately Half SBS gives you 1x1080p video stream with the left eye taking up the left half and the right eye taking up the right.
Your TV then stretches each half and shows you 1 at a time using shutter glasses. Essentially you get half of 1080p reolution.

Cheers

It still may be a good option to try as for 3D you are only going to get "Half" of either Vertical Res, Horisontal Res, or Frame Rate... I'd be crusing the Sony forums and see what others are doing but please post back as I'm interested in how you go. PD 64 Bit-Win10 64 Bit-32GB RAM-80TB HDD

I did some googling and there is another (obvious) option. Use the Burn as a AVCHD to a "Removable Disk" and point it a memory card compatible with your Sony Cam then use the Cam as the player to your AV System. The downside is you will need to store the finished project on memory sticks (or copy them to the memory stick when you want to play them) + you would have to use your cam as the player.
