Help Cyberlink PowerDirector is requesting permission to manage my YouTube account
[Post New]
I am currently using Powerdirector Ultra 10 and believe I have updated to the latest update that was available recently.
I have just processed a video from the last update and now I am getting this message on screen:

Cyberlink PowerDirector needs your permission to upload videos to your YouTube channel

Authorisation is a simple process that takes place in your web browser. Log in to your Google account in your web browser and then return to this window to complete the authorisation process.

(You must connect to the internet to grant permission on YouTube)

Authorise Cancel

I select Authorise the following screen appears see ScreenHunter_03 Oct. 21 11.16

My problem which could be due to not understanding what is really required here but why does Cyberlink need to manage my Youtube account I only need it to upload the videos. When I click No thanks I cannot go any further.

When you click Learn more I just see this info: See ScreenHunter_04 Oct. 21 11.23

Application developer:
elvischen2004@gmail.com
Clicking "Allow access" will redirect you to:
A native application

I am not at all comfortable with what is being requested as Powerdirector had permission before to upload videos to my YouTube account otherwise it would not have been able to upload my previous videos – Can someone please let me know what this means or do I need to look at another way to upload my videos?

Many thanks in advance for any advice/help provided

Shewar

Shewar;
This "activation" and "authorization" method is newly added to PD10 and PD11. I am NOT comfortable with granting Cyberlink access to "manage my account, manage my videos and playlists and manage my ACTIVITY!"! (see pop-up from Powerdirector11 Ultra attached).
It appears that unless we agree (currently), then the YouTube Functionality is blocked in PowerDirector. I for one am complaining and saying "NO THANKS", I can manage on my own!!!

Cross off another "feature" now missing/unusable in my Powerdirector 10 and 11 programs!! AND add yet another "ACTIVATION" required (I wonder if this will soon have a 30 day expiration like the other 3 activations already required). Thanks Cyberlink (not)!

Thank you FredB for the update.

I may also join you in making a formal complaint to Cyberlink.

I think an update like this they should have provided more details and the reasons why they felt it necessary to manage customers YouTube account.

I still would not feel any different as my YouTube account is my account and I am responsible for it and with the term “permission to manage my YouTube Account” this is like giving carte blanche to do anything they may fancy.

I really like using Powerdirector and using the automatic feature for uploading and did not expect that feature to be taken away for what I see as an unreasonable request with no details or explanation provided.

I will also ask them if they can reverse this as it is almost like holding you hostage (figure of speech) to say if you don't let me manage your YouTube account then you can no longer use the automatic feature

Anyway thanks again for the update

I almost never upload directly from PD
my attention was drawn to this by Polish friend who doesn't speak english so good
she was very confused by this and now I'm afraid she has give the power of her YT account to some stranger
and THAT ladies and gentlement is contrary to the YouTube TOS.
Cyberlink has steped over the boundry.

Hello there,
The good news is that even though I clicked "no" I still got upload to YT directly from open program, and after "produce" ended.
Nice try dear CyberLink...
