hi
i have been using pd9 for a long time, recently i bought a boxed version of pd10,
during installation i am getting a message: error 1305. error reading from file C:\ProgramFiles\Cyberlink\PowerDirector10\runtime\recoridngPack\CLRec4.dll. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.
Anyone has any idea what does it mean and how to solve it?
thanks

Copy the program disc from the DVD to your computer. Install it from there.

If you can't copy it, the DVD is defective.

Read this from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/248263 .

Lose your downloads???

If you are talking about the PD program files... no.

You should also copy them to disc and copy them in a folder you can always find for backup. I keep the main program files, and any upgrades forever. Be sure to do the same with your regis number.... I make a TXT file with that and also print it out and save a list of software cd keys separately. I think I have at least 5 complete backup copies of all the PD10 files, PD9 files, PD8 files, PD7 files, PD6 files, PD5, files..... and a couple hundred other software packages...

There is a FREE file backup program for Win7 called Synctoy. You have to download it from the Microsoft site. It will back up anything you want anyway you want it, anywhere you want it at the push of a button, or using Task Scheduler (built into Win7) you can automate it.

I have it backing up files from 3 different hard drives to a single drive, then that drive is backed up using internal, external USB, and hard drive docking stations that can hot swap IDE and Serial drives and have both docked at the same time..... I will never put any data on the "cloud" or online data backup for any reason. __________________________________________

Hi Wayne -

NO! You won't lost your downloaded & customised effects. These are NOT uninstalled when you install a new version of PD, because they're store in a separate area.

Downloaded effects are @ C:\Users\Public\CyberLink
Customised effects are @ C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\CyberLink\PowerDirector\8.0, except menus, which are @ C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\CyberLink\Custom Menus

When you install any new version of PD, all your downloaded & custom effects will be in the appropriate libraries.

Cheers - Tony

P.S. Are you aware that PD11 is just around the corner?
