Can't insert transitions

When attempting to drag and drop transitions with trial version I would get a red circle with a red line running through it.

This evening I purchased and installed the Ultra version of PowerDirect 10 (along with the two content packs) and the same thing is happening. (I'm running Windows 7)

I conducted a search through this forum and didn't see any related posting.

Please forgive me if this issue has been covered since I'm new.

Am I doing something wrong or did something not install?

Hi Wimot65,

Are you sure that there isn’t a small hidden gap between the video clips?

Cranston,

There was indeed a gap and all is now well.

Thank you very much for your insight and hopefully I will recover from the embarrassment of not having figured this out on my own.

Hi Wimot65,

First, welcome to the forum!

Second, no need for any embarrasment at all. That's a common oversight, especially if one is new to the PD program.

If it will help, PowerDirector tutorials are available here. . .

Re: Hidden gaps

I was unaware for a long time about those nefarious hidden gaps. Until I started expanding the timeline to size: HUGE

That is when I started seeing them, and closing them.

Question is, why do they even get there in the first place? ~Tom~

I upgraded from PD 10 Ultra to PD 11 Ultra and now I can't insert transitions... I don't have any of these mysterious gaps either. Anyone got ideas? Thanks.

Hi Michael -

You can't insert ANY transitions?

You've expanded the timeline to maximum zoom? No gaps? (That's most typically the cause)

What happens when you use this method of insertion?

Are we both talking about PD 11 Ultra? I don't have those apply random/fading options on my drop down menu. This is really messed up. I'm going to reinstall (again) the PD 10 app and upgrade and see what happens.

Apologies Michael -

That screenshot was from PD10 Ultra. PD11 version attached (same options).

Still - it does indicate something might have been messed up with the installation.

Cheers - Tony

Hello Michael

You can only insert a transition at the start/end of a clip or when you split a clip
