Hello,

I have a GoPro HD wide engle for my outdoor uses.
It has the fisheye look towards the outside edges.
I see on the net that there is a product one can buy and fix the fish eye effect.
Can I fix fisheye with powerdirector? I dont see a topic that would show me how.

Thank you,

Don.

G'day Don -

I thought using the inverse fisheye effect in PD might have worked, but it distorts the image too much.

Tried stretching it to 16:9 & trying the same thing... not so great.

Modest result using CyberLink's PhotoDirector fisheye correction.

Sorry - no easy answer from me. Is there a camera setting that would help?

Cheers - Tony

The only effect I've seen work with some GoPro video in PowerDirector 10 is the optional NewBlueFX Lens Correction effect from the Video Essentials 2 collection. Sorry. Gateway DX4380, AMD A8-5500 Quad Core 3.2GHz with ATI Radeon HD 7560D; 16GB RAM; 1 TB SATA 7200 RPM; Windows 8 Pro 64-bit; PDR11, PDVD12.

Don't know how to correct fisheye in PowerDirector but GoPro has two settings 170 degrees and 127 degrees. Try the 127 degree setting for the least amount of fisheye effect. My youtube channel====> http://www.youtube.com/user/relate2?feature=mhsn

The software that comes with GoPro cameras called "Gopro studio" has an effect called fisheye removal. Too bad PD doesn't do this because I'd rather use only PD to work with my videos. (I have PD 12 btw) Under "advanced settings" check the box that says remove fisheye. You can save it as avi or mov and then work with that in PD.

You can use Studio to remove "fisheye" (And it works great) but you have to import a GoPro camera file for the [Fisheye Removal] option to show in the "Advanced" box.
If you import another file type, or modify the camera's original file, then import it into Studio, that option (Remove Fisheye) won't show in the "Advanced" window.

BTW: If you do process your file to remove "fisheye", try clicking on the [Protune] icon (in lower right) to enhance the video.
I makes a rather dull video "blossom out" Not for everybody, but some may like the effect? Worth a try! Ageing Gracefully
