My in-laws have just bought a JVC GZ-MG130U camcorder and asked my to transfer the footage from the hard drive onto disk.

I've managed to lose the data and delete it from the hard drive of the camcorder.

I know it's a long shot, but does anyone know a way of recovering the data?

Thanks

Graham,

You are likely out of luck on locating the deleted files.

The consolation is you've found the forum where you can ask question on the software and "how to's".

I've sent you a PM.

It is probably a long shot but you could try googleing for file recovery software like Free Undelete, PC Inspector File Recovery or PC Inspector Smart Recovery.
Sometimes it is given free on magazine discs. Try the latest PCAnswers Mag. No 181 John

Well,I don't know data recovery software very well.
But I did use one to recover deleted files successfully. You can download [Link http://www.any-data-recovery.com/product/datarecoveryprofessional.htm ] and scan your computer for free. However,to save the recovered files, you have to pay.

Recuva is free and it works.

http://www.piriform.com/recuva

You can also buy a Pro version for about $25.

I do not work for this company, I do use the free version.
