Menu without 'Scenes' button

I'm creating my first video and have got as far as creating a menu before burning to DVD.

I would like the menu to be shown when the DVD is inserted into a player and for it to be displayed until 'Play' is pressed.

I have built a template using a background image and some text. It also has 'Play' and 'Scenes' displayed, seemingly by default.

The menu works well as it is: it starts when the DVD is inserted and plays when play is pressed. However, I don't want to offer the option of going to a particular scene. Is there a way to remove 'Scenes'?

TIA

Hello,

Can you tell us more about your video production and how you created it?

The Scenes button will only be displayed in the disc menu if:

1. You imported one or more videos or titles into the Content tab in the Create Disc menu. So if you just create a regular production in the Edit window, there should be no Scenes button.

2. Unless you added Chapters in the Edit window.

Let us know more and we can help you achieve what you want.
Regards,
David

I created the video from stills and video from my camera. I added chapters and an additional still (in the form of a project to act as the opening screen which would wait until play was pressed) as I thought they were 'required'.

Can I just delete the chapters and opening screen project to get the effect I am looking for? If I do, how will I be able to set a screen to wait for play to be pressed?

Many thanks for your help.

Hello,

Yes, if you remove the chapters (just delete them out of the chapter track), the Scenes button should disappear from the menu.

The opening screen project is also causing that button to appear.

To get around this, produce that separate project first and create a good quality video file. Then, import that produced file into the other project and place that video at the front of the timeline...so that it is just one long video. You can add a transition, or even a color board (black screen for example) between the still and the actual video.

Let me know if you need clarification or more help.

Thanks.

Would the above leave me with an automatically opening and looping screen from which the viewer has to press play and then be taken straight to the main video?

Hello,

If you did what I described above, it would just be part of the video when the user clicked play.

If you want to add it as the "first play video", you can import it in the Create Disc window. A first play video is like the FBI warning/copyright you see on most commercial discs. After it plays, the menu loads and the person can select Play.

Depends what you want this additional still/video to do.

If you don't need a menu, if you select the "No Menu" in menu preferences of the Create Disk module, you will have a disk that will repeat forever until you stop it.

"No Menu" will start play as soon as the Disk loads and repeat at the end of the video back to the beginning.

If you have a Menu, you must always press Play, It will return to the menu at the end of play, will not play until Play is pressed. (There is a time out, that causes Play to start without pressing play).

To not have the Scenes item, you must have only one chapter (there is always one chapter) and only one project or Video.
