I have recently purchased a Blu ray read write for my computer.

I have put the files from the DVD video onto the hard drive, and by using PD 9

I have produced a Blu ray disk, which has turned out OK.

I have played both the original DVD and the Blu ray disk via a Sony 1080P 40" TV. The sound quality on the
Blu ray is better than the DVD.

However looking at both scenes on DVD & Blu ray, I cannot tell much difference in the picture quality.

Would I get a better video quality if I started from scratch put the files onto PD 9, edit, produce etc.

and transfer the movie directly onto a Blu ray disk?

If you start with a low quality video or standard DVD, you are not going to get any improvement by burning to a BluRay disk.

BluRay is only full HD if you start will Full HD source.

So yes, if you start with the HD original Video and edit in Powerdirector 9 you will get a great improvement in quality.

BluRay is capable of 1920 x1080 Full HD video.
Standard DVD is 720x480/576 NTSC or PAL.
