Dear All
I changed display card from HD5670 to HD7770. After that, I could open a Project with no problem, but when I tried to show the project, there was only sound but the video image cannot be shown.
Any advice?
thanks

I didn't follow the HD7770 instruction to delete the HD5670 driver first. I replace HD 5670 with 7770 and then install HD7770 driver. Can I delete the HD5670 driver at this point? Or to delete all 7770 driver and reinstall again?
Many thanks i7 930 / DDR3 1600 2x3 / HD7770 / Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R

You should use CCleaner or the Windows Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs applet to uninstall drivers. Start with the last one you installed, then the previous one.

I don't have AMD/ATI, but NVIDIA, and after uninstalling NVIDIA drivers, I also use Driver Sweeper from Phyxion.net to clean up remnants of drivers that I didn't uninstall properly. Driver Sweeper also cleans up AMD Display drivers.

I've remove old HD7770 driver and remove all AMD files with Driver Sweeper. After that, the HD7000 driver was re-installed and then updated with latest.
However, still cannot show the image on timeline but only sound.
May be I have to remove PD10 and reinstall again as PD10 still referring to the old HD5670 driver?
I don't think there is chance that PD10 and HD7770 are not compatible?? i7 930 / DDR3 1600 2x3 / HD7770 / Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R

Are you able to view any videos using another media player ? If so, try playing back the video using the media player in PD10. Any difference ? Win 10, i7

The difference is that I can't do editing if I cannot view the image dragged into the timeline.

Yes, I can view the video independently using Media Player or VLC i7 930 / DDR3 1600 2x3 / HD7770 / Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R

You can try this registry hack, the registry entries are then same for PD10 under the PowerDirector\10.0 section

http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/14828.page#71971

It is reversible, don't know why it works on some systems where the timeline preview screen is black.

Cheers

Hi, Adrian
What does "Key VideoRenderer" mean?

Key VideoRenderer

Default value = VMR7
Change to VMR9

You mean to found the registry and then type VideoRenderer default value = VMR9 ??

Thanks
Victor

Editing the registry can be terminal so do not attempt it if you are at all unsure.

Unfortunately, I am away out of the country over the next week and unsure of my internet access, so I do not want to start you on a path that I cannot continue to help.

Others may be able to take you through how to edit the registry in general and then specifically how to change the value of the VideoRenderer key found towards the bottom of HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cyberlink\PowerDirector\10.0\

Anyone care to chime in??

Cheers

Hi, Adrian
You r so considerate. Thanks again!
I just uninstall of previous Cyberlink files and then re-install.
All video can play with no problem. But when the video was dragged to the timeline and play, the screen of PD10 is dark with only voice.
Seems you have confidence that changing the registry works?

Hi Adrian
I followed your instruction to change the registry from VMR 7 to VMR 9 and then reboot and restart PD10.
IT WORKS!! now the video image dragged to the timeline can be displayed!
You are genius!
BTW, is it easy to explain to me layman what is that VMR7 and VMR9 means?

Hi, Jim
what a long story!
What I can understand at this point is :
"VMR7 uses DirectDraw 7, VMR9 Direct3D 9"
when VMR9 is used, the video in timeline can be shown.
The other like overlay etc needed more time to study.
thanks all you experts :
