I have a Dell 8800 with all the Windows updates. Nividia Graphics card drivers all udated from Nvidia website and have the latest Quicktime, Windows Media Player, and GoPro Hero firmware and software updates. I can play a GoPro MP4 video in every program except PowerDirector 10 Trial version with this message.

CyberLink Power Director could not construct the media source as a graph.
This may be due to the lack of decoding filters for the file you are trying to edit"

I've googled that error message and found a lot of other people having the same problem with no help coming from Cyberlink so until someone comes up with a fix I'm going to park it as a buggy program and thank God I didn't buy it before trying.

Before you completely condemn a program, install the Mega Pack of the latest K-Lite Codec Pack, both the 32 bit and the 64 bit versions.

That Media Source error may be because of the limits of the Powerdirector 10 Trial version, it is crippled by Cyberlink to avoid paying Royalties.

The Trial Version does not do all that the Paid Powerdirector 10 Ultra version does.

Installed the 32 and 64 and it still does the same thing. Like always, it plays in the PowerDirector player (upper right window) without a problem but when you bring it to the timeline, the error shows up.

If the progam is indeed crippled for the trial version then there is no way to know if the Ultra program wouldn't have the same problem. And from google, I'm not the only one having this problem.

I initially wanted to upgrade my Pinnacle Studio 12 to 15 but wanted to try PowerDirector 10 first because it looked neat. To be fair I downloaded the trial version of Pinnacle Studio 14 and it played and edited my videos on the first try.

I can't take a chance on purchasing PowerDirector10 and I do appreciate the effort to help but I'm done here. Have a great holiday.
