PDR10.EXE has stopped working
[Post New]
Every. Single. Time.

It used to work and work well. Now I can't get it to run. I've been through tech support and tried their suggestions, but problems persist. I did a very clean unininstall and reinstalled everything- same problem. I've run the patch- same problem. I've tried the Compatibility tricks- same problem. I haven't reinstalled QuickTime, but I've already read here that it didn't work. PD is dead in the water. I need some help.

What changed on your computer just before it quit working? Did you change any hardware, run Windows Update, install a codec package, etc?

When you try to open the program, does it do anything at all? __________________________________

The big one is that I had to do a system restore to 6 days earlier (an unrelated and since fixed problem). After the restore I made sure everything was working correctly. I think that may be how I first saw the crash. Related? Coincidence? I don't know. Could be either one. Point being, everything else works; why not PD?

I've made no other changes to my PC.

When the program starts up it displays normally for one or two seconds then crashes and I get the error message.

Hi Shane924,

Here's the link for CyberLink Customer support: http://www.cyberlink.com/prog/support/cs/index.do

Have you:
1. Applied the latest graphic card drivers to your system?
2. Uninstalled using the Control Panel?
2-1. Uninstalled PDR10 and QuickTime?
2-2 Reinstalled PDR10 (QT will install with PDR10)
Please do so and see what happens.

Sorry to say nothing has changed. I get the same error.

I just uninstalled the Quick Time PD installs and installed the latest QT from Apple and it seems to work just fine now. Go figure.

Weird, thanks for the update.

Of course one could guess and think the uninstall removed corrupted drivers/codecs and the latest QT installed newer ones...

Yep.. a quicktime issue seems to be the number one "PD has stopped working" error, primarily on a new install of PD... and has been for a long time. __________________________________________

Just in general it seems that having the correct registry entries in just the right (logical) order is critical. Next time something like this happens, it might be worth running a registry-straighten-outer after uninstalling things. Jerry Schwartz

I have tried everything suggested in this forum. I still get the 'PDR10.EXE Is Not Working' message.
It used to work if I rebooted my computer between sessions.
Suddenly it has stopped working altogether.
I keep sending error reports, which include my Email address; but get no reply.
I have decided to go back to PDR9 Ultra 64. It works great.
Unfortunately I feel I have wasted my money on PDR10.
I am now seriously looking at Sony Vegas Movie HD as a replacement.

Peeter P: Welcome to the PD10 forum. Unfortunately, you "hijacked" this thread. May I recommend that you post a new thread and provide us volunteers with the details of what you are trying to do, when the errors occur, and most importantly, a dxdiag file, so that we can have a look at your computer configuration and determine if there might be an obvious problems.

As you may have read in these forums, PD10 is resource-hungry and your computer MIGHT not be up to it. Be sure that you have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version of QuickTime - it is the most frequent cause of this error, apart from a computer lacking resources. Of course, it could also be something else. There are so many possibilities that without additional information, we would all just be guessing.

Hope this helps. Have a great day.

Peter,
welcome to the forum. Could you please start a new thread, and perhaps someone here can help you. As part of your next new post, include your DXdiag file from your machine.
