Hi, I purchased Cyberlink Power Director 10 online about six months ago, and have had this error message constantly from the first day I purchased it:

"You must first activate this feature before using it. Connect to the internet and then try again.
Activation is a free and quick process.

H.264 - Component Activation.

The codec trial has expired. Please connect to the internet to activate now. "

(It hadn't expired previously, but because I basically gave up using it, it ran out. I am so frustrated!)
The only problem is, once I click 'activate', it only comes up with another error message! (Images are attached)

Is there a way to resolve this issue? Unfortunately, I did not purchase this product off the Cyberlink site itself. I purchased it from another online store.

I understand you need this information:
1. CD-Key
2. Take a snapshot in full screen for About page
3. Take a snapshot in full screen for Error message
4. Because each feature only need to be activated at first time they are used. Please let us know did you ever activate the component successfully before but still receive the dialog that cannot activate the component?
5. Did you never activate successfully and the component activation dialog pops up every time?
6. Did you activate the component in another computer using the same key before?
7. Did you activate other features (BD/AVCHD/DVD/H.264/MPEG2) before? Are you only faling to activate this component?
8. We need a valid proof of Purchase like order number (invoice / sales receipt) or Alternative E-Mail address using which you have purchased software from our CyberLink online store.

ANSWERS:
1. I do not have a CD key (that I know of) as I purchased the item online.
2. ABOUT PAGE (see attatchments)
3. ERROR MESSAGE (see attachments)
4. I had never been able to successfully activate this component, no. It gave me trouble from the start. I had hoped it would go away with time, but it definitely hasn't.
5. NO
6. NO
7. NO I have never activated any features; it has never prompted me to. It has only asked me to activate this feature.
8. RECEIPT IS ATTATHED. (Proof of Purchase PDF)

I sincerely hope that someone can help me to resolve this issue! It would be so appreciated!
I am desperate and have been desperate to use this program ever since I purchased it.

THANKYOU!
-Maryellen.

CyberLink customer support does not regularly view these forums, so you would need to send that information directly to them.

The seller should have provided you with a CD key. Here is a list of authorized retailers. There might be others. http://www.cyberlink.com/stat/regional-stores/enu/index.jsp

Maryellen,

I have recently experienced your problem. Search "H.264 activation" and you will see my tale of woe. Jaime is correct.
Provide Cyberlink with all the info they want, then ask (I'm tempted to say 'demand') them to provide you with a link
to a fresh download of the program and associated files. They did so for me after three weeks of mixed communication. When I loaded everything, upgraded to patche 1703 and started to edit AVCHD files, strangely, I was not prompted to activate H.264 capability!

There was an indication in one of the responses to my forum query that the same issue of activating within 30 days also applies
to blueray functionality. I've set up a project aimed at a blueray but have not been prompted to activate any function! Ask Cyberlink about the need to activate blueray capability. Send me a personal E-mail if Cyberlink provides a definitive answer about the blueray issue.

Hope things work out for you.

Hi,
Please follow James' suggestion and contact the seller of the software from whom you purchased PowerDirector from. They have a duty of service to assist you.

The "CD Key" is the activation key you were given at the time of purchase, please check your emails.

Please inform this thread as to the progress you have made.
