HD rendered to AVCHD pixelated, digital artifacts.
[Post New]
HD newb.
I am recording with a Canon M52, using the highest quality setting.
I do some very basic editing in PD10.
Then render to AVCHD on DVD-R, tried 60i and 24p, both look lower res, pixelated, with digital trailing artifacts.
I'm I missing something stupid?

Running Win7-64 AMD quad 8 gigs ram

and perhaps a sample video from your camera - a 5 second clip, attached to your next post will help to.

Guidance may be given in one or all of the following areas:
Graphic drivers,
Project size for your system
Hardware acceleration use
SVRT use
Produce selections made

Thanks

Please try to PRODUCE your video first in AVCHD mode (use Smart SVRT) and see how the video looks. If its OK then your "burn" selection is incorrect. Win 10, i7

Hopefully this is a clue.
When I import the file and play it directly, it looks perfect.
If I drag the clip into the timeline it turn to junk.
Am I missing a setting in the time line?

Hi

Try adjusting the Preview quality - note avoid using HD as this may use tons of unnecessary resources (and cause stuttering and skipping problems) your computer needs - I only use High Preview Resolution.

Thanks, that helps the preview. But my rendered videos are still not HD. Is that just the nature of try to burn AVCHD to a DVD?

Hi

If your computer is powerful Uncheck the Enable HD video processing (shadow file) in Preferences>General

1. Produce your project using Intelligent SVRT OR H.264 AVCHD 1920 x 1080/60i

2. Import this Produced file into the timeline (or use this file in a USB and plug it into a Smart TV (has a built in USB media drive)

3. Set Chapters etc

4. Create Disc - AVCHD use the H.264 HD 1920x1080 and burn to a regular DVD*

* Note this type of AVCHD DVD can only be played in a Blu Ray player and will only show 'true high definition if the TV is 1920 x 1080 Full HD

I'll give that a go. So by dropping a *.MTS file directly into the timeline does some type of compression from the get-go?

Is the above statement true??

I am having the same issues with video from my Panasonic HDC-SD9 within PD 10. The .MTS file plays fine in VLC and from the workspace after drag n' drop importing.

When I drop it to the time-line, then view it using the preview window, at Full-HD resolution, the quality seems pretty bad. Its really bad when I launch the Media Player and use full screen. The video is especially bad and pixelated after doing Video/Color Enhancements. I've tried some overlays, and most of them cause the playback to flicker a lot. I've done some test publishes and renderings and the quality still comes out pretty bad.

Even though I mostly edit my HD video that comes from my 7D with no issues, I still need to edit the AVCHD files from the Panasonic from time to time at a pretty decent quality. Ive done alot of searching, seems the .MTS / AVCHD files have been troublemakers and I haven't found a solution...I really don't want to switch programs.

Other info: System specs are in my sig. Camcorder is set for highest resolution and my graphics card uses the latest drivers from Nvidia.

I'm having a similar problem with PD10 trial version - I have to manually drag/drop my .MTS (H264 AVCHD) files into the media area. This is tolerable as I've read that this does not happen in the full version. However, if I try to playback an imported clip, whether played directly from the media area using the preview window, in the media player, or from a timeline-drop, I get horrible corruption, painting and flashing. I'm using hardware acceleration on an ATi/AMD 6800 card, with up-to-date drivers and avivo package.

I notice there's been no reply to slickmetal25's post about this issue for five days now... is this likely to be fixed? To be honest, it's stopping me buying this software. As it stands right now, it's no use to me with this problem.
