PowerDVD 12 can't enable Nvidia 3DVision, all other 3D software is working fine. Using Win 8 CPx64

I have Windows 8 x64 Consumer Preview and Nvidia 3DVision glasses with a 120Hz BenQ XL2410 display. My 3D works perfectly with every other piece of software except PowerDVD 12, which gives the following error when I try to enable 3D:

Cyberlink PowerDVD could not enable 3D playback. Try choosing a different 3D device.

The videos I've tried clearly work because it can play them in Anaglyph mode. It is PowerDVD 12 Ultra, not one of the other non-3D versions.

Does this software actually work in 3D with Windows 8 CP or is it just not compatible? The only reason that I bought it was to play 3D video, if it can't do that then I will have wasted my money. TotalMedia Theatre 5 demo can play 3D perfectly and my games all work, so I know that there's nothing wrong with my system.

The Blu-ray Disc & 3D advisor software from this website also says that everything passes. I have also made sure that the latest patch available is installed.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? Thanks

Hi,
Windows 8 Consumer Preview is not supported.
PowerDVD will be ready when Windows 8 hits the market.

Will that mean buying a new version of PowerDVD or will there be a patch for PowerDVD12? Also, can you give me any clues as to why it doesn't work if you know so that I can attempt to find some sort of workaround?

Hi,
it is way to early to have reliable info - the GM and release date of Windows 8 is not yet defined and even Windows 8 is far away from GM.

Not sure if it is really Win8 related.
I have Win7 64 bit. Nvidia GTX 670. BenQ XL2420TX.
Same issue.

Probem solved on my side (Win7 x64 - but I suggest you also try for Win8 ).
When you run the Cyberlink BD Advistor the BenQ monitor is listed as the device which does not support 3D.
I had my monitor connected to the graphics card via the DVI cable which did come with the monitor.
I switched to a HDMI cable (1.4a ready - just in case) and bingo - it works.

Just figured though out - with HDMI connection this setup does not support 1920x1080 in 3D 120Hz mode.
HDMI allows 3D only in lower resolution. Need to test display port if this allows more but need to get displayport cable (1.2) first.

I have same problem with CLEVO 370EM3, 17.3'' 1920x1080 3D screen Windows 7 64bit dual GTX 680M and i7 3940XM processor..
Latest 310.70 NVIDIA drivers installed..
The settings window also goes black most of time and when appears its hard to switch between menu options, it simply takes to much time to change any option.
Actually I'm trying powerdvd 12 ultra software but if it goes like this I think must find another software.

I still se a lot of issues (complaints) regarding the 310 drivers both with this software and others. Perhaps consider rolling back the driver to the 306.23 to see if that helps. You can always re-update if that doesn't fix the problem.

Are you using the beta release or the one that is fully developed?

You are probably not going to find one better. BTW, what you decide to do has very little affect on the users of this forum. We have no in with Cyberlink.

For anyone who has this issue in the future.

I had 310.70 but when I upgraded to 314.22 I still had the problem.

Rolling back to 306.23 drivers fixed the issue for me but then I went back to the new 314.22 and found that it had failed because it disabled 3D in the Nvidia Control Panel, re-enabling 3D and running the setup wizard, then made 3D work again in PowerDVD 12 and 13.
