Hi,
this should not happen, can you please let me know:
- the PowerDVD 12 SR (not CD-KEy - it can be found in the about box)
- do you have installed older versions of PDVD at the same time?

DVD120119-05 (DVD110722-02)

I bought 12 ultra immediately after it came out from the web as an upgrade. If I remember it left 11 ultra in place, but I removed 11 through control panel. I'm Windows 7 64-bit.

I'm just curious if this happened for a single user only or is anyone else getting this?

I'm also getting ads to purchase PowerDVD ultra. It's a popup in the lower right side of the screen.

Hi,
that shoudl not happen,
can you please help to get the following info:

1. current installed PDVD 12 Version (Full Version and SR [SR is NOT the CD-Key] and can be found in the about box)
2. the build you have upgraded from (e.g. 9)
3. was the original build OEM (pre-installed or bundled) or full retail version?

thanks for your support

1) I'll check this when I get home and post it here, but I am fairly sure it's the newest version, as the PC is fairly new itself.
2) I downloaded a trial for PowerDVD 12 and purchased a license after that. No upgrades from previous versions.
3) See 2.

The ad doesn't always pop up, just occasionally.

I checked manually in powerdvd and got the message that no updates were available. And I can't remember the exact wording, but the gist of it was powerdvd 12 ultra (which is what I already bought from you). I will click it next time it pops up and send you the link/resulting page uri.

I managed to bungle up the cut and paste. Thought I had the link on the USB, but no. Anyways, I found a trial and a campaign folder in the powerdvd folder structure. I renamed them both and haven't seen the popup since.

I didn't have a campaign folder, but I did have a trial folderr I rename to trial.old. So far no popups.

Actually what you're doing by renaming the file is corrupting it so it won't open anymore. You don't have to rename it to anything, just add a "period" or remove a letter.

Just curious--why would adding .old be any different than adding a period or removing a letter?

It's not, I was just stating that you could have done anything to the folder to corrupt it in order for the program from recognizing it.
You probably could have simply deleted it as well.

There was an incident a long time ago when Vista was released where on an HP computer with Bluetooth. If you were to connect a Microsoft Bluetooth mouse and that HP computer was running HP Quick Launch software it would conflict with a dll file with in the Quick Launch software.

You would get get a Pop-Up stating that "HID Data Has Stopped Working" every time you connected a Microsoft Bluetooth mouse. At the time the only way to fix this was to rename the dll file. Some put ".old" after it and others simply deleted it.

This is pretty much the same case, it points to some poorly written software.

With the HP incident HP finally rewrote the Quick Launch software, but neither Microsoft nor HP ever admitted their was a problem.

The new Quick Launch software was quietly introduced and the annoying problem just faded away.

Lets hope that it's not the case with Cyberlink. That is the fix should happen sooner at Cyberlink and not take a couple of years like HP.

See if turning off this option (see image) solves the problem. You'll just have to remember to manually look for updates.

hello, i see your problem realy late. I had the same and i solved it at 90%

if you do it with my solution, you will cannot update with the program updater inside powerdvd. But you can on cyberlink.com
After remove the advertising, there are still again the pop-up advertising sound but i don't know how delete this.

Solution:

Go in Cyberlink Runtime file, for me the steps are:
C:\Program Files (x86)\CyberLink\PowerDVD12\subsys\BigBang\Runtime

after only change the file name of CLUpdater.exe, exemple remove one letter: CLUpdate.exe
the Icone of CLUpdater.exe file is a white arrow inside a blue circle.

power dvd don't found file and can't run the pop-up advertising.

bye
