Been having a bit of a play with 'basic' 3D on a few jpeg pics.

Whilst I can easily create the 3D effect, I always get incorrect colours - there is a strong shift from any red/brownish colours to lightish green. I can partly overcome this by adjusting the Colour Hue but is this usually necessary?

As far as I know I have the correct red/cyan viewing glasses but maybe there is a very specific 'special 'specification for glasses needed with PD10 conversions?

Hi,
I am no expert in video editing but have experimented with the 3D aspect of PD10 and find that altho' the colors don't seem right when previewing on the HD preview in PD10, when produce and output for you tube or BD player they come out quite well... (considering that the production is 3D like not the new 3D cinematic true 3D).

Thanks for your comment James.
Can't quite understand how 'incorrect colours' come out more or less OK when produced/uploaded. I will have to experiment a bit but maybe someone knows why such a 'green shift' until colour corrected eg a colour shift to 'opposites'.
I have had a look at various web pages and so far I have not seen this mentioned ... mabe it is just PD10. Can get some good effects though CYa Ron (W10/i5gen8/Nvidia)

Hi,
When the program (any program) converts an image to 3D using red/cyan, it off sets the red /cyan in the image a number of pixels (the distance gives the depth, so an image with red cyan variant may also get shifted changing the whole image but when viewed as 3D with the glasses your eyes/ and brain interpret then as depth.
That is the way I conclude happens. In the past I used to create 3D Images in a bitmap editor, by splitting the image into red, green Blue channels masking various portion of the image in the red and blue channels and nudging a few pixels in a direction then combining the channels back into a normal image. When this was done properly it created anaglyph 3d Image, but was time consuming.
To-day it is all done by the computer behind the scenes.

Interesting description Jim.
Shifting pixels will alter what we see. Will do a bit more studying. CYa Ron (W10/i5gen8/Nvidia)

There is no change depth option for 3D anaglyph and what happens when it is set to 3D anaglyph mode is that it just changes the picture color to a bit dull and it doesnot happen to have the 3D effects..as there should be a shift of red and cyan but there is no option for it..i am using Power Director 10..plz help...as I have created a documentary and need to apply effects to it...

there is a slider in the 3D tab where you enable 3D in modify button... Here is a sample video.
