audio sync issues

Sorry if this has been addressed before, but I haven't found my exact issue

I have some clips that have audio. I want to split them to cut out 'dead' space, but it seems that when I try to put the edited parts together with fade transitions, the audio gets out of sync.

I have seen (and used) the idea of putting stills on a separate track and PIP to insert them into the timeline, but this is different.

Am I using the transitions incorrectly? Should I also put an audio transition at each cut?

Thanks in advance.

Since you cut the audio the total time of Video and Audio is out of Sync. You have to align length of the video clip(s) with the transitions to match with that of edited audio, a bit taxing job

Sorry...i did not make this clear. I should have said that I have video clips with audio dialogue, that I need to edit and transition back together. That is where the audio is going out of sync.

Part E&F

Solution/Guess/Options:
1. Place the video in the track
2. Separate the audio
3. Split the video but leave the audio whole or
4. Split the audio and leave the video whole
5. Overlay still images or repeat video to fill the gaps or
6. insert background audio to fill the silence.

seeing what you're looking at will help.

I'm also wondering if the "sync" issue is only a preview display issue where your PC is struggling to play the HD files and data from the tracks. Having your diagnostic files would help .

Please state the camera make and model you're using and provide a 5 second sample file (point and shoot a 5 second clip) and attach it to your reply. Thanks
