So HalCon...Where am I going wrong?
Without actually being at your machine it is real hard to say. There are many reported cases of buring problems.
I may just be lucky to have a set-up that does not have issues. Computer hardware, software and operating environments are so varied, I am doubtful if there are two that are alike in every respect.
Although we see many burning problems, very few people come on to a user forum to tell how good things are working.
Burning problems can have one or many factors that contribute. These can range from hardware, through software, all the way to the media used in the burner. Personal computer settings and environment can also affect the burn process.
I always use the same media and follow the same procedures on each project. While burning I have no other software running, I go away from the computer until it is fnished.
Like many others here I burn to HD before trying the burn to disc. I prefer to see if the burn will succeed and then watch the movie with a software DVD player. This is to test the menus (if used) and be sure I have the project completed to my satisfaction. In my earlier days I would burn directly to disc first only to find out that I had forgotten to add the music or some other stupid mistake. I learned to test burn first.
If my burn to HD is successful and I am satisfied with the result I will then go back to PD and burn the project to disc.
I realize this in no way helps solve your issue (I wish I had a simple answer for you). You would really come to like the capabilities of PD if you could solve the burn error. I have had the dreaded e errors happen a few times and each time I found the disc was a coaster before I put it in the burner.
