I'm really fed up. On the same computer that I am using now I have sucessfully burnt DVD's using a variety of other applications without issues. I can't remember a time when I have made coasters! Currently I have a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit with all my hardware drivers up to date. So, why do I have a problem with PD 10? A little more info would help, lots of folks here to help.

what error message(s) do you get
what format is source material, output format you are trying to create, etc

a diag file, see first few entrees in the forum for how to create and attach. If you have several brands of editing and burning software installed, there have been cases where one brand will cause another to fail (they rename a library .ddl the same or load a different version. Okay :o)

I am working with a .AVI which I want to burn to a DVD. I have tried burning straight from the timeline and also rendering to mpeg2 first and on both occasions I get the incredibly helpfull and useful eEB020BE2 error message as soon as it starts to burn. two possible causes for that error message are burn speed to fast for media and occasionally, an illegal character in the disk label (got that one myself).

PD is a really good editing program, but has qwirks in the burning department. Does the file you "produced" play in any outside program OK.

lots of users use free Imgburn to do actual DVD burning, from the produce or "burn to file" option. RTX 2060 SUPER 8GB GDDR6

Sure! I have tried different burn speeds to no avail.

When you say "An illegal Character in the disk label" what exactly do you mean?

I have read many times in this forum that the burn engine in PD sucks and whilst I accept what you and others say it kinda makes PD pointless. I might as well go back to TMPGEnc Authoring Works which never failed me! I switched to PD because the editing is better. If you wish to try another burner ImageBurn works very well and it's free. Do make sure that you burn your project to a folder first and try playing from the folder to ensure that everything else is OK. Win 10, i7

Okay but do you not think it's bad that I can't burn using PD? NO. I've seen too many other bugs with DVD burning that had nothing to do with the app. PD is primarily an editor. ImagBurn has a better burner, better than most other editing apps. Win 10, i7

Just to throw another fly into the ointment here.

I use the burn module in Power Director for all my DVD and BD burns. I have had excellent performance burning with all versions I have used. I burn each project a minimum of two times. One to HD then one to disc.

I know very well that others have problems and prefer to use other software, but I am not one who has these burning issues.

Without actually being at your machine it is real hard to say. There are many reported cases of buring problems.

I may just be lucky to have a set-up that does not have issues. Computer hardware, software and operating environments are so varied, I am doubtful if there are two that are alike in every respect.

Although we see many burning problems, very few people come on to a user forum to tell how good things are working.

Burning problems can have one or many factors that contribute. These can range from hardware, through software, all the way to the media used in the burner. Personal computer settings and environment can also affect the burn process.

I always use the same media and follow the same procedures on each project. While burning I have no other software running, I go away from the computer until it is fnished.

Like many others here I burn to HD before trying the burn to disc. I prefer to see if the burn will succeed and then watch the movie with a software DVD player. This is to test the menus (if used) and be sure I have the project completed to my satisfaction. In my earlier days I would burn directly to disc first only to find out that I had forgotten to add the music or some other stupid mistake. I learned to test burn first.

If my burn to HD is successful and I am satisfied with the result I will then go back to PD and burn the project to disc.

I realize this in no way helps solve your issue (I wish I had a simple answer for you). You would really come to like the capabilities of PD if you could solve the burn error. I have had the dreaded e errors happen a few times and each time I found the disc was a coaster before I put it in the burner.

But, the thing I don't understand is that other burning software works without fail :o( Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, Asus P8Z68 DELUXE/GEN3 Motherboard, Intel Sandybridge i7-2600K Unlocked Quad-Core Processor, Corsair 16GB 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 Vengeance Memory, Asus nVIDIA 3D GeForce GTX 560 TI, Asus Xonar HDAV 1.3 Deluxe PCI-E 1.0 (Comple

To add to my previous comment on DVD burning : on one PC I had a DVD DL drive for over 3 years before I realized that it was a dud. It turned out that it couldn't even read it's own DL discs ! Yet another DVD drive on another PC had no problems with it ! What turned the tide (I finally replaced it) was when I discovered that it could not write to a dual-layer (DL) disc consistently. And get this, single layer was fine ! Win 10, i7

Are you producing your files first?

Only I had burn issues - not quite the same as yours - that were rectified once the 'produce' file(s) were rendered ok.

The meek shall inherit the earth, if that's ok with everyone else....

RE: Graphic Cards: Driver Date/Size: 12/6/2011 03:16:00, 933888 bytes.
Update your drivers please.

Raid GPU set up, has caused problems in previous PD editors. I cant advise on this but updating drivers may help you.

Maybe update your sound card drivers as well.

PD10 64bit is very picky about having uptodate drivers for media.

Okay!
I have updated all my drivers. I am running a clean install of Windows with every driver the newest possible from the manufacturer's website. There is one thing I haven't tried and that is to check for new firmware for my cd/dvd drive. I will try that and report back! I have now successfully burnt two DVD's at a whopping 16X speed with menus. I am an expert now ;o)

An update of my DVD writer's firmware seems to have fixed the problem.

Thank you to everyone who has offered their help :o) Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, Asus P8Z68 DELUXE/GEN3 Motherboard, Intel Sandybridge i7-2600K Unlocked Quad-Core Processor, Corsair 16GB 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 Vengeance Memory, Asus nVIDIA 3D GeForce GTX 560 TI, Asus Xonar HDAV 1.3 Deluxe PCI-E 1.0 (Comple
