Problem making movie and adding audio

Hello,
A little help would really be greatly appreciated!

I am using PD9 Ultra 64 build 9.0.0.2316. I have made a number of movies with this system before, but am having some strange difficulty now. I have 8 video clips (of nature scenes) on my Timeline in Edit mode, and have created two audio clips to go with it. However, I am missing some step when trying to produce a movie from these items. When I go into the Produce Section, I choose to do an MPEG2 file format and specify where to put the output file on my computer. However, when the production file is done, only a small audio file is actually created, no video is in the finished product (I get a green screen when I run the finished "movie" file). The out put file should be big, such as 300 MG or something, but only comes out to about 7 or 8 MG.

I assume I am missing a simple step to tie the audio and video to together and to get the video to actually process. I can't figure it out after wasting an entire day, reading and re-reading the user guide and trying everything.

Specifically:
I have 8 short clips on Timeline line 1. I have not added any transitions as I just want the clips to go from one to the next without a transition effect.
Under line 2, on the row that has a microphone symbol at the end on the left, I have two audio clips that were made of me doing an explanation of what is going on in the video.

When I play the items using the "movie" button on the preview screen, everything works perfectly. My voice is superimposed over the original sounds of the audio, and everything looks perfectly.
To then create the finished product, a movie, I then:

1. Click the "Produce" Button
2. Choose MPEG2 file format
3. Specify where to save the output file (finished movie)
4. Click Start.
The thing then runs 18 minutes or so and only outputs a small audio file.

Note: I did not do any type of link between any of the clips on line 1 in the Timeline as I assume this is done by the Production function and I don't see anything that "ties-in" the audio to the video clips (I assume this is supposed to be done also in the Production Function).

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks and Sincerely

Hi Garytravlr,
Please update you version of PowerDirector by applying the latest patch. 3305 is the last patch. see link: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/19037.page

Please go to your graphic card producer's website and update your graphic card drivers.

Please retest your issue after you have carried out the updates.

Dafydd

Thanks Dafydd,
I'll do the updates as you suggest and try again a bit later this morning, and then report back. Hopefully this works.
Thanks!

Hi Dafydd,
I did the updates as you suggested (none needed for my graphics card) and no change. Is there a step I am missing?

Do I have to link the individual video clips together in some way if I don't use the various Transition effects?
and
Do I have to do something to link the audio clips to the video clips?

As mentioned above, I have everything laid out in the Timeline--all vid clips on the top line, sitting next to each other, and the two audio clips on the line that is directly under Line 2, the line that begins with the little microphone symbol.
I have not, and can't see anything to do so, linked any of the files to each other. I assume PD does this automatically when in Production mode.
Thanks again!
Gary

Hello Again,
UPDATE: It now works. The problem was the "Fast Video Rendering Technology" box. It had been checked each of the previous (many) attempts. The sub box of "Hardware Video Encoder" had also been checked. When I unchecked this, just now, the video produces just fine.

So, I guess this feature is not compatible with my computer. (I used Dell Latitude E6420 and am running Windows 7 Professional with an NVidea NVS 4200M Graphics card--I had another issue, brought to this forum, a while back due to the NVidea card).

Thank you for the time and attention, Dafydd.

If there is any info I can supply to aid someone else with a similar issue as mine, please let me know.
Sincerely
Gary
