When I bought Photodirector 2011, it included a free upgrade to Photodirector 2012. Has Photodirector 3 replaced 2012? If so, did anybody get the free upgrade?

Thanks.

Hello GulfRacer,

Yes - what you might expect to be called PhD2012 is named PhD3.

I've been scratching around, trying to locate emails & confirmation of the free upgrade to PhD3 for users who had previously purchased PhD2011.

Are you able to locate your original purchase confirmation, with the order number? If you PM me the details, I'll pass it on to the relevant people at CL. Alternatively, you could submit a ticket with Customer Support @ https://membership.cyberlink.com/prog/support/cs/customer-services.do

Hello PIX

I am in the same position as gulfracer. The upgrade offer was made September 2011 and my order number is 17190822224 dated 9/16/2011.

I hope this helps. I have contacted customer support about this issue.

Excellent Malone,

I'm sure you'll hear from Customer Support soon (after the weekend).

Message for GulfRacer, Malone & all purchasers of PhotoDirector 2011

I've been informed by the P.I.C. (Person in Charge) of PhD at CyberLink that all purchasers of PhD 2011 will be contacted by email during March with the details of the free upgrade to PhD 3.

There should be no real need to submit Customer Support tickets, as I previously advised.

I received my copy of Photodirector 2011 as part of magazine subscription. The box indicates the free upgrade will be available. DO I qualify for it?
[Post New]
Hi Don -

Under normal purchase circumstances, users would need to provide proof of purchase of PhD 2011. These users will be informed by email.

As you did not "purchase" the product, as such, you would need to submit a customer support ticket providing some evidence to support your claim.

I'm sure CyberLink will be happy to assist.

Hello Barry,

Welcome to the PhD forum. It's easy to be less-than-clear with the various offers that have been made about acquiring PhD3.

It's my understanding that:

1. All PhD3 Beta testers/users would have received an email from CL, offering a 20% discount on the purchase price of PhD3. The email subject is "Announcing NEW PhotoDirector 3! Exclusive 20% Savings for Beta users!" and was sent on or about 4 March, 2012.

2. Beta testers who submitted a report will receive MediaShow5 free. Those who submitted testimonials had the chance to win the Nikon camera, PD10 or PhD3.
- This is lifted from http://www.cyberlink.com/prog/company/press-news-content.do?pid=2922
All consumers and photographers that participate in the PhotoDirector 3 Beta program, and complete a survey or report a bug will receive MediaShow 5 (US $49.95), CyberLink’s media management and slideshow tool, for free, and will have a chance to win a Nikon D3100 DSLR camera. Additionally, users who submit a testimonial describing their experience with PhotoDirector 3 Beta will have a chance to win a Nikon D3100 DSLR camera, PowerDirector 10 and the full version of the official release of PhotoDirector 3 when it’s available in early 2012.

3. All purchasers of PhD2011 will receive a free upgrade offer to PhD3 during March. This has been recently confirmed by CL.

I hope this clarifies the situation!

What if we got free the version from the previous public Beta? I suspect I'm going to be disappointed, but taking a swing at it anyway. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

What about it ?

Hello kronky,

I am assuming that you did not purchase PhotoDirector 2011. The free upgrade offer to PhD 3 is for purchasers only.

I can't use PhotoDirector 2011 anymore because it is not compatible with the RAW files of my new lumix GF3 and I can't buy a new software for now.

Barry! Kronky!

You may not be able to get the free upgrade, but you DO have a chance to WIN a FREE copy of PhotoDirector 3 and more.

Hi,

I had previously purchased PhotoDirector 2, and have recently downloaded and installed PhotoDirector 3/2012 as I qualified for the free upgrade.

However, the first copy of PhotoDirector 2 was installed on my laptop, but with PhotoDirector 3 I need to have it installed on my main desktop system. I have installed the PhotoDirector 3/2012 to my main desktop system now.

My question is, since when you go through the process of getting the free upgrade CL uses the same serial no./CD key that I had for PhotoDirector 2, do I need to uninstall the copy of PhotoDirector 2 that is still installed on my laptop so as to not cause problems with my license/cd keys registrations?

I will not be using the two programs at the same time (on the laptop it (PhotoDirector 2) will be used only when I am away from home & the main desktop system). I am Not trying to do the wrong thing here just want to know what is the correct/proper thing to do so as to be within CL's requirements and not have one of my programs locked or cause problems.

If its possible for PhotoDirector 2 to stay on the laptop and still be able to use it on occasion that would be great. But if I need to remove it no problem.

Thankyou,
Johno.

Hello Johno,

I think that would be completely fine. In fact, I have PhD 2011 & PhD3 running on my desktop PC. I have 2011 still installed on my laptop for the very same reason. Coincidentally, I'm away from home right now & on the laptop.

My advice would be to go ahead & do that. I'll contact CL just to confirm that is all good.

Regards,
