How to change color of downloade Title
[Post New]
Is it possible to change the color of a downloaded Title? I downloaded the "brown" title on the left and would like to make it "blue" as you see on the right.

Hi -

This cannot be done in PowerDirector alone. You need to use photo/graphics editing software.

Titles downloaded from DirectorZone are stored at C:\Users\Public\CyberLink\Downloaded Titles\ in sub-folders named "titlexxx"

1. Locate that folder & the sub-folder containing your downloaded title.
2. Locate the image file that isn't named "Thumb..."
3. Open the file in your preferred graphics editing software
4. Adjust the hue & saturation to suit your needs

5. Save it as something else... must be a .png file if ti contains transparency like the image above
6. Back in PD, in Title Room, right click on your title & select "Modify Template"
7. Follow these steps...

After that, you'll end up with something like this... http://directorzone.cyberlink.com/detail/4805383

Cheers - Tony

Thats what I was looking for Tony........the location of the stored files on my computer. One more question if I can. I saved the video to my computer as an mp4 and it was 109mb. I opened it in Windows Movie Maker and saved it as a wmv and it reduced the size to 23mb. The quality looks the same to me so is the issue one of who can view the mp4 vs the wmv.

Also, I did not follow your directions entirely for this video as I wanted to use the image as a background throughout the video. I did, however, start a new video and was able to modify the Title exactly as you described. Thanks very much for your help.
This is what my finished video looks like: http://www.scottylive.com/Diana.wmv

G'day -

Glad that helped. Knowing the file location of menus, titles, PiP objects etc is handy when you want to modify things beyond what PD can do.

■ PD's stock standard stuff is stored in C:\Program Files (x86)\CyberLink\templates\PowerDirector Content Pack 10 - within two sub-folders

■ Downloads from DirectorZone can be found in C:\Users\Public\CyberLink - again in sub-folders

■ Customised "things" are stored in C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\CyberLink\PowerDirector\10.0 except customised menus... C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\CyberLink\Custom Menus

....................................................................................................................................

On the point of production formats and file sizes, yes - WMV is a highly compressed format, & therefore useful when file size needs to be restricted.

File size is determined largely by format, resolution & bitrate.

How much difference you can detect would depend a lot on (a) the nature of the video, (b) what you're viewing it on, & (c) how well your eyes & ears work! Play that WMV file on a big screen TV & you'll probably go back to MPEG-4.

As an example, I took a 1:17 clip straight of my camera & produced it in different formats to compare file sizes & quality:
1. Original clip (.mts) - 1920x1080 @ 24MBps - 217MB
2. Produced as MPEG-4 - 1920x1080 @ 13MBps - 123MB
3. Produced as WMV - 1920x1080 @ 10MBps - 96MB
4. Produced as WMV - 1280x720 @ 10MBps - 59MB
5. Produced as WMV - 960x540 @ 2MBps - 19MB

Reducing the file size from a 109MB MPEG-4 to a 23MB WMV (about 20% of the MPEG-4) is very roughly equivalent to comparing 2. & 5. (above). With the clip I used, the difference was enormous - in visual & audio quality! It may not have been so noticeable on your rotating cubes.

It's sometimes a toss-up between quality & file size.

Cheers - Tony
