BLU-RAY DISC SCENE FLICKER IN PD10 - NOT in PD8

Hi all

Problem:

PD10 burnt Blu-ray discs flicker/loose audio/freeze at certain scenes. PD8 burnt Blu-ray discs DO NOT

See video:

Workflow:
I have produced my first Blu-ray disc in PD10 using 13 PD produced AVCHD 1920x1080 24 Mbps source files in the time line:

Create Disc Profile

The identical Blu-ray disc burnt using PD8 DID NOT flicker

Note: Two LG BD players were used in this 'test'

MY OWN CONCLUSION TO THIS OCCURRENCE

PD8 (32bit program) Blu-ray burnt discs work fine on all BD players

PD10 (64bit program) FLICKER/DROP AUDIO/FREEZE WHEN using the AVCHD 1920x1080 24 Mbps burn profile

The workaround (to remove the freezing and drop of audio) is to choose the lower AVCHD profile 1920x1080/50i:

The begs the question of:

Why does PD8 produce PERFECT burnt Blu-ray disc and PD10 doesn't!!!!!!!!!!!

Is this a 32 v 64 bit program thing?? Is it a 24Mbps thing

NOTE: ALL SOURCE FILES WERE IDENTICAL PD10 PRODUCED AVCHD 1920x1080 24 Mbps FILES

ALSO NOTE THAT THE ABOVE PRODUCED FILES PLAY PERFECTLY AS A MEDIA FILE. THIS OCCURANCE ONLY OCCURS WHEN BURNT TO BLU-RAY DISC USING POWERDIRECTOR 10

HAVE ANY OTHER MEMBERS EXPERIENCED THIS?????????

Thanks :

Ermmmm, yes, this morning!!

I'm not one to scream about software not working, particularly when it's only my first disc I've burnt with any Cyberlink programme.

However, your symptoms were perfectly replicated when I checked a blu ray disc I burnt overnight.

However, I believe I used the Mpeg4 profile, so am about to experiment with the H2.64 profile.

It's the image quality that doesn't yet sit still on the eyes. Anything other than dead slow panning causes blurring which is not present on the original footage.

I am also mindful that I did not switch off the stabilising anti-shake bizz on my camera. In previous attempts to burn blu rays, I always found I had image issues with the anti shake left ON when trying to burn discs.

Am going to try different profiles during the next couple of days.

Interestingly enough, I played my blu ray on PC and TV this morning. PC was unwatchable and the TV had the issues you described in your post.

All titles, still shots were in perfect focus.

Having watched your movie top of screen (which I should have done first), I'm not getting flickering to that degree.

My apologies - my symptoms are more image blur when camera pans which is not present on originals. I did get one scene where the video freezes and the audio continues.

Will be watching your thread to see if anyone or either of us comes up with any answers that benefit us both!

I also note that I didn't choose the 24mbps choice of the two higher profiles.

I am burning a disc now on your settings. To see if my issue is resolved, but will also see if your issue is replicated here.

Burn finished

Mixed results, but I'm not getting the image flicker that you are getting.

Mine's not perfect yet, but the resolution I used this time got rid of the motion distortion everytime the camera panned left or right. The meek shall inherit the earth, if that's ok with everyone else....

Hi Loveclose

Thanks for the replies.

My problems relate to project being burnt onto a BD using the AVCHD 1920x1080 24mbps burn setting.

Your problem might have something to do with a graphic card/shadow edit file or a box in the Preferences being checked or unchecked.

At the start of the forum is a request from the Moderator to post a diagnostic file.

Maybe you should consider start a New Topic explaining your issue and attaching a diagnostic file.

Many thanks again

My pleasure and thanks also for your suggestions.

Never posted a diagnostic file - now would be a good time to learn.

FTR, I don't use the shadow files option.

I'm hoping against hope that it's not a memory issue - only using 4Mb Ram, but the Video card is a 1gig HD card. The meek shall inherit the earth, if that's ok with everyone else....
