Will PowerDVD 12 support playback of DVD in ISO format without additional help from external software to mount ISO image to DVD drive?
Thank you.

You need a virtual drive like Virtual Clone Drive or Daemon Tools Drive. I find that VCD is more user friendly then Daemon Tools.
To answer your question, no, Power DVD12 will not play ISO files directly.

Hmm, I wrote the support yesterday and their reply it is able to play iso without external software. I am asking them how to load the ISO now since I don't find that option in the software anywhere. Will update the forum once I get any answer from them.

Ah Ha Ha Ha
I don't think they know their own product, I would be really curious and surprised if it could play the ISO files directly. I suspect you are dealing with some guy in India who is reading from a script who has been told that it can play anything including ISO files.

We'll see....

Jeff,
You are right :. Support emailed me last night and confirm that it does not support ISO without additional assistant from external software. I will need to use some other tool to mount the iso image and access it as DVD drive.

Oh well, then there is not much incentive for me to move from PowerDVD 10 to 12 since the only reason I want to upgrade is remove external need for mounting the iso. Make it a bit easier for the wife and kids to play what they want.

With me, if I double click on the ISO file itself it automatically is mounted. If I have Power DVD set to play Blu-ray's automatically in the "Control panel" Power DVD will simply play the ISO ounce it's automatically mounted.

Also, if Power DVD10 is working for you, don't upgrade. Power DVD12 is the same product as far as I can tell when it comes to the actual playability of Blu-ray's. With DVD12 all they did is tack on more redundant features.

Here is the link the Virtual Clobe Drive if you're not already using it.

Thank you Jeff. I am already using that software for awhile. Just a bit difficult for the young kids to pick the dvd they want to play. Oh well, I just have to teach them to use file explorer now :.
