I just get tired of people saying PD doesn't work and it's garbage. Most issues are related to poor or unsuitable hardware. Some is self-inflicted. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

Thats why we need two channels in this forum.

1. Technical questions on why PD crashes, does not burn, how to turn on codecs, ect ect... NO editing questions

2. How do I? Questions on actual editing only.... how do I invert a clip, play it backwards, what is a colorboard... movement and audio type questions.

And when someone puts a wrong question in the wrong channel it gets MOVED to the right channel.... like most other forums do....

When the forum first started, that is exactly what the forum was for, a place where members could ask questions and receive in-depth answers no matter how trivial to others, the question might seem, without fear that they will be subject to derogatory remarks because their spelling or English grammar may not be correct or the question is too mundane.
Unfortunately, most of the members that took the time to respond to those type of questions are no longer active on this forum, and in reality you can understand why, as the direction of the forum changed, so did the participation of those members.

My plan is to resume helping users again in the forum. Very coincidental timing of your post Robert! It definitely hit a nerve for me reading your post as I completely agree in my opinion. . I had decided to attempt to post in the forum again last night.

I don't know exactly how to word this... But let's regenerate the positive vibe! I am committed to making new members feel welcome! I am certainly not saying that new members were not made to feel welcome, but I will make an extra effort to do so.

No fingers are being pointed at anyone. The water has flowed under the bridge and I am going to make an effort to be a positive influence in the forum and with other members.

The goal for me is to assist others to have a positive experience using a video editing program.

And in reference to Barry's topic, PowerDirector has been a fairly positive experience for me. But I am a patient "man"(Barry caught this! hahaha! I Love missing words!)and work through any problems. For the most part I have been very pleased with using the program.

Robert.. you are so right, but I guess that was because PD 3 through 6 never gave any real issues on running. Then PD8, 9 and 10 showed up....

PD has always and still does everything I want it to do...

By the way, I am through playing with Windows 8.... Other than the new GUI, it will be another keeper. As most now know it is mainly set up for touch screen, and using the "classic" desktop GUI does not work as smoothly as it should, and the touchscreen GUI is always running and getting in the way. I was able to run everything I have on it including some very old 16 bit software.

Very nicely done video! A+ on the footage you shot, very crisp and clear. Thanks for sharing it.

On subject, PD is a great piece of software. Nothing on the market is flawless and we shouldn't expect it to be. A good community is one that pitches in and helps each other and this place certainly has that going for it

As a long time user I would like to point out that the Cyber techs have also changed their tune during mid-course in PD9 and have now designed the software to "capture" crashes to improve it's reliability. (I've been a user since PD7).

In addition, PD10 was obviously tested much more in depth prior to it's release. The proof is how much more stable it is with tough HD projects.

With active users such as in this forum PD has become a decent piece of application software - not perfect but certainly very usable. Win 10, i7

Barry what are you shooting your video with it sure is nice and clear even in the background ?

I used my Nikon L110 (720 mov). Not a great performer, but it was a sunny day, and lighting is so-o-o-o helpful when using consumer cameras. Also very helpful to use any camera with a steady hand (or claw), which I do attempt, to various degrees of success. HP Envy Phoenix/4thGen i7-4770(4@3.4GHz~turbo>3.9)

Barry, You did an excellent job on the Railroad Museum video and stills, It is good to see some of those old trains being restored. The Museum has a big job ahead with all those cars sitting outside.

It is great to see use of Powerdirector that is a very successful outcome.

FWIW - Here's a newcomer who has used a couple of competitors' editing programs and is very pleased with PD 10, and with the help available on this forum. My video aspirations are limited; I'll never produce a video within light years of Barry's quality, but its inspirational to know what can be done with "prosumer" equipment, careful attention to detail, and Power Director.
