RonH: I have noted that too, on occasion: PD10 leaving large files behind after creating disks. From what I can figure, PD10 just omitted to delete them for some reason. I have deleted them and never suffered any consequences. I think that they are just temporary files created during the burn process.

If I am wrong, I am sure that one of the more tech savvy members of the forum will correct me.

I think these files are some kind of 'disaster' file that get created when there is a major outage or some kind of specific problem. But as you say, maybe they are just created when you go to burn but don't want to save the detail afterwards.
I have dumped them into my pc Wastebin but will leave them there for a while ... just in case.
If there is a tech savvy out there it would be nice to know 'what is'.

What I just found on the net is ...
Part of a WinAce archive split up into two or more files; initial file created during the file-splitting process; saved with other parts, with .C01, .C02 extensions, etc.

I thought I would ask Cyberlink what are these C00 files and this is their answer ... might be helpful to some of us if indeed they are telling me what C00 files are? The files C00 that I am talking about were in 'My Docs/Cyberlink' etc and I do not have Shadow Files 'ticked' in the Preferences/General tab! My question was ...

What are these and can they be deleted?

I am sure that they are referring to something that I did not ask though perhaps this is where they were in PD8.

I understand that you are using CyberLink PowerDirector and you want to know about shadow files.

Please note that as a default the shadowed Edit files are stored in the location given below:

C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\CyberLink\PowerDirector\8.0\ShadowEditFiles

If you wish to Enable (creation of shadow files), you can use the steps given below:

1) Alt + C -> Preferences -> General Tab

2) Check "Enable File processing to speed up high definition video editing"

If you wish to disable (creation of shadow files), then you can manually delete the files :

1) Alt + C -> Preferences -> General Tab

2) Uncheck "Enable File processing to speed up high definition video editing"

Manually delete shadows - allows you to browse/choose which are deleted or
auto delete with a time choice in days.

If your system specifications are higher enough, then there is no need to generate shadows to speed editing and so they can be turned off.

Had a bit more of a 'play' and the C00 files are definately not 'shadow' files. I restored them to the correct file (from my Bin) and then manually deleted the 'shadow files' ... these three were still on my Docs.

So I am going to simply get them off my pc and ... move on. Pity though not to find out what they really are because its likely that a lot of us could have massive files sitting doing nothing on our Docs.
