Why doesn't Power Director 10 Recognize Hardware Acceleration with Trial or does it just not work?

Just curious why no support is availlable for Power Director 10. It seems like a great product with the one advantage of SVRT so I can use the original Sony codec video files and get near an hour of video on an AVCHD. Unfortunatly, no responce from Cyber's tech as to if this feature is disabled with the Trial or not, OR if it is compat with my new PC with Intel i5 graphics card. If a person is to purchase, one would need some information source and not to wade through hours of not quite the same questions... This one feature is the only advantage seperating CyberLink's from many other options... The Trial claims ful featured, yet some bla-bla says may be disabled. If anyone has any knowledge on this issue--many thanks!

This is the best I've seen published on what the trial version is capable of. Some areas leave a lot to guess between the lines.

The best would be to upload a 5-10 sec samply from your sony camera, several editors may try to see if SVRT works for you. If you are talking 60min AVCHD on a 4.7GB DVD with 1920x1080 type resolution, I can tell you no. On the otherhand, if you are talking SD 720x480 AVCHD, very likely.

I can't answer your technical question as I'm a novice, but I am trying the PD 10 trial and I get a message saying my version doesn't support AVCHD when I try to use these files. There are also no help files and one or two other things are missing. I contacted tech support (they seem to say as little as possible) who said the trial was not a full feature version.
Actually, I asked them before downloading if the trial was deluxe or ultra and was told it was ultra version. There was no mention then of it being a limited version.
I use PD8 and this PD10 trial seems a bit more unreliable on my PC. Gordon

Hi Grant & Gordon,
I wonder if you're both aware that besides having the trial for 30 days there is the additional offer from CyberLink of a no questions asked 30 day return option for the full purchased version. This offer has been with CyberLink for a number of years. Just making it known to you both.

Don't know if this helps or not. I also have an I-5 with integrated graphics. My ripping software uses it for acceleration. But PD10 "seems" to ignore it, and goes for my AMD Graphics card. Which is fine, or was. Since the latest AMD Media Codec update, PD10 shows Hardware Acceleration "unavailable". I had thought PD10 would use the I-5 graphics to accelerate, but I can't seem to locate if there is a place to set that. That said, with the 64 bit engine, it is still screaming fast, without the acceleration.

Hi Mborland,
If your system has integrated graphics it wont support some of the more advanced graphic board functions such as cuda.

If this belongs elsewhere, say so and I'll move it, or delete it. But, I see where some members don't use acceleration, I am guessing they feel it monkeys with the output? And, does anyone else have the AMD acceleration lost since the last driver update (1-28-12, or thereabouts)?

For the OP Grant: In preferences, under Hardware Acceleration, in the lower right corner it will show what is available. For the Intel, I believe it is OpenCL, and there is a check box at the top for it. If you have a discreet card, say AMD or Nvidia, the appropriate icon would also show at the bottom.

Had just finished rebuilding, reloading "latest and greatest" of everything - but lost hardware acceleration. I wondered about back-leveling.
Thanks for your note - saved the research time!
