Hi,
If the DVD has been formated by windows or other formating software it won't work as a DVD-Movie disk for one, and you will get error trying to fit more on DVD than it can hold.

That disc not ready error occurs when you have a 4.7GB disc in the drive bay and you have PD setup to burn a 8.5GB disc, ie, dual layer, that simply can't be done. For a 7GB project you need a DL disc.

Jeff, I had set the disk size to 4.8 Gb at the very beginning, that is eliminated as a cause.

Jim: I placed an unformated disk in the drive, but this time unlike a few days ago when I successfully burned two disks, PD10 program did not come up with format screen, that really puzzles me, as I never did use the MS format program. I am still trying to see what is going on this time as opposed to a few days ago...no luck, one step forward, two backwards.. Attitude + Behavior = Performance

Attach a copy of your create disk page.

PD will only ask to format if you are using a RW disc, it has never asked if using a +/-R disc. PD simply can not put 7GB on a sinlge layer 4.7GB disc. It has no disc spanning technology built in.

You will never get your movie on a single layer disk....you have to used Double layer DVD's 8.7GB to burn onto!!!
Power director I don't think will do it.
that is what we are trying to say here.

you can burn it to a folder on your computer but you still won't be able to burn to a DVD unless it is double layer DVD.

I was not trying to burn the whole movie to the 4.8 DVD, I had selected 4.8 GB disk size "thinking" that PD10 would burn 4.8 GB of the movie and the rest I would have to go back and burn onto a second DVD disk. Apparently I have to determine "where" the 4.8 GB location is on the timeline, and call that the END of the movie, then burn that section, then, go back to that same location and burn the last 2 GB (+/ of the movie to the second DVD disk. Of course I could use a blu ray disk which holds 25 GB and get TWO 8 MM movie tapes on ONE DVD.

I am presently using a box of DVD -R disks.

Jeff, that explains "why" I was able to get that format message once a day ago, I was using an RW DVD, the ones I have now are -R. Attitude + Behavior = Performance

Just so you know DVD double layer (DL) can only be written to once they are not re-writable.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Use Smart Fit in the Create Disc Mode - this will reduce the quality though OR

Uncheck the Burn to Disk and Check the Burn to Folder option - then use some other DVD burning software - Nero or imgburn.

PD always creates a file size way bigger than the original. Why? Absolutely no idea Happing editing

Hi Neil, that sure seems to be the case here, it was taking FOREVER for PD 10 to make the PREVIEW in Easy Editor, in fact it never got past 65-70% point so I finally had to close it out and go to bed at 1 am last night. I have no idea why it does that either. I even set the movie to 01:00:00:00, cutting the movie in half so that it would fit on the 4.8GB DVD disk. I didn't add music either, as my intention is to get these 7 Analog tapes onto DVD so that I can go back into PD10 later and make final version tapes on Blu Ray disks.

Hi Jim, thanks for heads up on double layer disks, I see that Staples (office supply store here locally) sells 8.5 GB (double layer disks) , so I plan to get some today to give that a try. I have to get this Analog 8 MM camera back to the owner soon. Attitude + Behavior = Performance
