Need help in producing a DVD - size too big

Hi Guys,

I've managed to make a memorial movie for my late father which has a file size of 1.5GB.

Whenever I try to produce a DVD the file size goes over 9GB. All I've done is put a different picture and song in the background. Below are links to print screens of the film in edit and also the movie whilst in the produce DVD stage:

How can I bring this size number down to fit a 4.5 GB or even a 8.5GB DVD.

Will appreciate any help, really need to ship these DVD's off to family members.

Thanks in advance,

Manny

You changed the menu.

How big is the photo you used for the background?

That Photo may be where you got the huge size increase for the Burn Disk.
What happens if you remove that photo from the menu?
Does the Create Disk size come down?

What size is the Create Disk if you use one of the default menus built into PD?

If you size that photo to 720 x 480 then add it as background, does that bring the create disk down enough to burn a 8.5 disk?

Thee actual photo size of the image is 1.13MB.

Now it's gone totally weird...when I add the video file (1.67GB) to create a disc, the size goes straight to 9132MB. That's never happened before. The file size would remain at 1.67GB and would only increase after putting in the background song and personalised picture menu.

This is becoming tough to understand.

I've tried using another DVD burning software that was already pre-installed on to my laptop (Sonic) and again when I add the video clip the project file size then becomes over 9GB and says the project is too large to burn.

How can this happen when the actual properties of the video says the file is only 1.67GB?!

Hi Munpreet

I'm unsure why PD has decided that your project is bigger than the moon

You could try the following:

1. Make sure there are no additional files in your timeline that you cannot see making your project bigger.

2. Produce your project first using the MPEG2 DVD HQ profile AND then import this Produced file into a NEW project.

3. Try burning this file

OR

Try unchecking the Burn to Disk and check the Burn to Folder.

This will 'burn' your project to a folder instead of direct onto a DVD and USE another program to burn to DVD eg Nero Imgburn.

Good luck Happing editing

The advice of producing to a MPG-2 HQ video is a good suggestion.

After you have the MPG-2 HQ video clear your project, put that MPG-2 HQ video on the timeline then create Disk.
What does the size estimate say now?

I'm trying my best to produce the movie to MPEG but as you can see in the following picture I'm not having too much luck!

Will keep trying and keep you posted..just don't know why I'm having problems with this as I've never encountered problems before!

Hi

Two things come to mind looking at your photo

1. You only have 34GB free on your C drive - try acheiving at least 100GB by deleting/moving files to another drive.

2. I also see it stooped at 14% during production. Go back to your project and remove the file/transition at the 14% mark
