I installed v11 Ultra yesterday expecting a better experience over 9.6. What I found was a little astonishing. Any help on these issues would be appreciated.
1st - DEFAULT VIEW: The Video Tab always defaults to "thumbnail view". Even if you prefer the List View shown below, if you ever close V11 and return later, it's back to thumbnail view. We have a few hundred movies and hard to move through them in thumbnail view. However, when in List View none of the columns are sortable, they are just static text at the top (Size, Length, etc). There's also no way to add a column category. For instance, we like to watch the movies we just added. There is not date column or any way to add a date column. So we must use Windows Explorer to sort/view then go search in the Video Tab to find that movie. It's hideous.

2nd - PLAYLISTS: They are cumbersome to create now. In version 9.6 you only had to open the media section (lower left) then double click the movie file. It would automatically be added to a recurring playlist at the bottom and wasn't necessary to save that list. With v11 it appears you go to the video tab and you MUST create a "new" playlist in the left column. Then find the movie file and drag that file on top of the playlist in the left column. We create a playlist on the fly, for that night. We don't want to keep creating then deleting old playlists every night. Why not retain the old method?

3rd - VIDEO TAB: It's horrible to find things. "Up On Level" is the only way to go back. There are no right click options available on any of the thumbnails or in the open space like what can be found in "Windows Explorer". If you have 400 movies and are down at bottom, you must scroll all the way to the top to access the "Up One Level" icon. An example would be reviewing movies then deciding to look at TV Shows, which are in another folder. You must scroll all the way to the to top to hit the "Up One Level" icon. This seems like very lazy programming of an application. Many have a mouse with side buttons to "Go Back". This does not work in the application.

4th - FULL SCREEN: The application will not view in full screen. Even though the box is checked, it doesn't happen. Our old application worked fine, always populate to full screen. When using our Media Player and select Blue Ray or a file that launches PDVD, you have to manually select v11 to full screen. If you just use PDVD to open a movie you must manually take it to full screen by selecting the icon the lower right of the application.
5th: TRUE THEATER: Although no boxes in TT were checked, upon starting any HD movie it prompts "We detect HD Content. Would you like to temporarily turn off True Theater". I finally selected "Never Ask this Question Again". Even though we thought we had everything in TT turned off, it still asked us to turn it off. What makes this even more confusing is the fact the TT icon is always lit up blue like it's turned on. At least the 3D icon changes when it's active.

6th - SUBTITLES: Anytime a movie starts subtitles are enabled. I haven't tested all the ways this happens but do know it happens with at least the MKV container. You must manually select subtitles to "Off" after the movie starts. This is a known issue they have verified (Investigating) but no fix for the last two updates.
7th – PROCESSES: This new installation had 6 processes running on my PC, plus one leftover from v9.6 application. Now that's a total of SEVEN (7) services running on my PC when in fact I really only needed 1...maybe 2 for the way we use Power DVD. Since I don't use a media server, and NO information on this is made available to the customer during or after install, I spent hours researching on the net. I finally disabled the 3 "CL" services by accessing Windows 7 Component Services.
PVD11Serv.exe - PowerDVD Remote Control Service
PowerDVD.exe
PowerDVD11.exe
CLMSMonitorService.exe - CyberLink PowerDVD 11.0 Monitor Service (Media Server)
CLMSServerForPDVD11.exe - CyberLink PowerDVD 11.0 Service (Media Server)
CLHNServiceForPowerDVD.exe – No idea what this is for
BRS.exe - BD Region (Leftover from v9.6)
8th - APPLICATIONS INSTALLED: This one is self explanatory with the image below. I didn't pick up on it until after the install. Along with installing version 11, Cyberlink installs one instance of C++ 2005 Redistributable and 2 instances of C++ 2008 Redistributable. On top of the 7 processes listed above, Cyberlink installs a total of 4 applications. I believe the latest 2008 C++ is from the update to version 2408. Is this really necessary for a Windows 7-64 PC? To me, all these processes and applications seem like poor programming - or at the very least a poor approach to the development of the application and what it does to your property (PC)..
