Hello. I'm using Power Director 10. I had an audio file. I figured out how to edit the file and clip out the stuff I don't want, but now how do I put all of the pieces together and how do I save it as an audio file that will open up with windows media player? Thank you!!

Jaclin: Once you have your project edited to what you want, you can "Save Track As". Then you can play the track or import it into PD10 and then go the PRODUCE module. For format, select the second row, far right (the two music notes) and select to produce in .wma, .wav, or .mp4 format. The resulting produced file should also play in Windows Media Player, and you can use that file for other PD10 projects.

Hope this helps. Have a great day.

Regards,
-Phil

Good morning Phil,

Thanks so much for your answer. It helped a lot. The first time I saved it, I did it in wav format. I had no sound for some reason, so I saved it again as a wma and I have sound on that one. Not sure if I did something wrong or if there is some sort of glitch in PD10. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. I really appreciate your quick response!!

Hope you have a beautiful day!

Hi Jaclin. Glad that you were able to solve your problem. Thanks for reporting back.

You don't say if it was Windows Media Player or PD10 that would not play your .wav file, but would play your .wma file, or both. Both should play .wav files, and PD10 seems to "prefer" .wav files.

It could be a goof on your part, but it also could be a glitch in Wave Editor, which is a separate and standalone application, though linked to PD9 and PD10. I seem to recall that were some issues last year with a version of Wave Editor. It would be good to ensure that you have the latest PD10 patch (11129b) and the most recent version of Wave Editor. Mine is 1.0.1.2011. Not sure if that is the latest version, but that version works fine for me.

Perhaps one of the real pros on this forum will be able to provide you with more advice or suggestions.

Have a great day, and happy PowerDirecting.

Hello again Phil.

It was Windows Media Player that would not play the wav file. The version of WaveEditor that I am using is version
1.0.1.3320. I did not try to play the wav file in PD10. I only opened it in WMP. I have deleted the file already, so I can't look to see if it would play in WMP. I will have to make another one and try it again. I'm not sure what you mean when you say patch. Sorry for my ignorance about this. I do appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. You have helped a lot. I'll look though the form to see if I can figure out what a patch is.
Hope you have a wonderful day!

Jaclin: It is important to keep your PD10 updated. There have been three patches to the original PD10 release. The current version is 1129b.

Open PowerDirector and click on the PowerDirector name at the top right of your screen. That will display the version you are using.

If it is not 1129b, then login to the Cyberlink Members Zone, select Manage Your Products, then click on "Updates" for PD10. It will show all of the updates (3) that have been released for PD10. Select the newest (1129b) and install it. The updates are supposed to be cumulative; i.e., you only need to install the latest update.

Hope this helps. Have a great day.

Thank you Phil. You're the best! I did not have the latest updates and now I do... thanks to YOU!!
You are very much appreciated. I'll be sure to keep an eye on updates from now on.
Big Hugs to You!
Jaclin

P.S. I like your sig tag. I'm going to figure out my information and do the same.

I think I have it all. My husband built my computer for me. I'm sure it is overkill, but I like it.

Can't be overkill.

You need as much computer as you can get to edit HD videos.

Glad Phil helped you.

Good to know. I am assuming you're telling me that editing video can bog down a computer that is not loaded. Guess I'm good to go then.

Jaclin: Thanks for getting back to us. Glad to hear that you have the latest and greatest patch ... and computer!

You are CERTAINLY good to go for HD video editing with that beast your husband built for you. Even my new computer is more than is needed ... now, but demands will only increase in the future and I decided that my new machine should be "future proofed" it a bit by going well over the recommended specs. I hope to keep it at least five years and possibly longer. As Carl so wisely said, there is no such thing as "overkill" in the world of video editing, which is the toughest thing you can ask a computer to do.

I am certainly happy with my computer and you should sail along very, very nicely with your rig. Happy PowerDirecting and don't hesitate to come back and join us here in the forum if you have other questions. Have a great day.
