Vista 3 gig switch question

Hi just upgraded to PD10 from 9, and previously, after having had to run the 3 gig switch in Vista (becasue of instability in another prog), now PD9 and also 10 seem to run much more sluggishly - playback when editing is choppy, and I'm getting lag from one frame to another. Is this likely because of the 3 gig switch? I heard it was not supposed to affect such progs - if anything make them better as it allows windows to use Ram more effectively.
Anyone know the scoop?

Thanks

Hi,
Power director 10 requires a lot more Memory to run....running on a 4GB system is futile...it will struggle and freeze a lot.

Thing is, PD9 used to run fine on this project. I had to reinstall, and because of another prog, employ the 3g switch, and now it runs pretty bad. Also noticed however, my mobo is reporting only 2 gig of ram, so there's something wrong there. Just trying to sort this out now.
As for it needing more than 4 gig of ram, then it should state that on the specs. It says 3 gig and above, and says vista, not Vistas 64, which alone can use more than 3 gig of ram. If it's ridiculous for me to expect it to run well on 3 gig, then its ridiculous not to say that on the specs - not looking for a row over that, just how it seems to me.
