Downloading Analog video from camera via Canopus ADVC to PC Power Director 10

I cannot seem to get PD10 to download my old Analog camera cassette tapes using the Canopus Analog to Digital converter. I am using a IEEE 1394 Firewire connection from the output of the ADVC to the PC. This output is a Digital video signal. My PC has plenty of HD space free 850 GB worth and the RAM is 6 GB, Up is Intel I7 and an NVIDIA 8250 video card. All drivers are updated. I have two postions on the ADVC I can use via a dip switch, PC control or ADVC control. If I use the PC control, I get a message from the PD10 program stating: "You cannot use the Capture functions because the iLink mode on the HDV device is not identical to the recorded format on the tape. Check the tape status or make sure the content on the tape is an HDV format and then reconnect the iLink again." Well of course the content is not HD it is an old Analog recording. So I decided to throw the dip switch to ADVC control, and I can see the first frame on the screen but nothing will download as the Camera plays the tape in VCR position. OK, I need some help here guys, anyone have experience with an ADVC, or in particular, the Canopus model 300 ADVC ?

Thank you in advance,

In the Capture Module have you tried the "Capture From an HDV camcorder" on the top of the capture preview player.
Is that option available?

If you have please give more details of what you have tried.
A screen shot or two of the capture module would not hurt for us to see what you see.

I have a ADVC-300. Start playing the analog video before you begin the capture process in PD10. JakeW

I did Jake and nothing was recording until I selected the RECORD button, and by then, I had lost the first few frames.

On the back of the 300, I had sync set to OFF position, I don't know if that makes a difference, I don't see why it should, but srtanger things have happened...LOL
