Wrong?

The act of applying the PowerTool/Video Speed is designed to fasten the motion of the video in a shorter space of time.

There is nothing wrong with the procedure you are noticing.

To be specific. Ive got an item that I am spinning. When I try to increase the speed of the spin video...all it does is shorten the size of the clip in the time line and cutoff half the spin.

Could it perhaps be a problem with the video I took??

So you are saying the resultant video take less time but it still plays at the same (real-time) speed? Odd... AMD Phenom II X6 1100XT

it actually plays a bit faster...but choppy. But instead of playing the complete video, it plays a smaller portion of the video.

Your video card during playback in PD may not handle the sped up stream correctly and play jerky and skip. Try to produce to a file once and play the file and see if you get what you desire. Lowering preview resolution can also help with the playback skips and does not affect produced file.

Speeding up the video means dropping frames, doesn't it? With a specialized subject such as your spinning object, the missing frames might be more obvious than with a "normal" subject. Try fiddling with the "nature" sample.

Try working directly on the timeline. Put the cursor at the end of the video clip, hold down the control key while making like to pull the end of the clip, and experiment. That's faster than doing it in the Power Tools window. Jerry Schwartz

Should be able to do it in the editing section.

Look in the help menu - That is what I do.
