when I use the wizard to create a photo slideshow is there any way to increase the duration of the pictures. The slideshow generated by the wizard doesn't enough time to really view each photo

Quick answer no,

What you can do however to to create your slideshow, Produce it, bring it back as a new project, then apply slow motion to it, to achieve the length you require, THEN add your music.

P.S. Ducky - that's just one of the disadvantages of using the slideshow templates. Some bits are customisable & some aren't. Duration isn't adjustable, except by the method Robert (& Kevin) described.
