This message scared the crap out of me as none of my projects in Power Director 9 would load any previous
Smartsound tracks!

The only thing that seems to be the culprit was after I did a Windows 7 (64 bit) update.

Thank God I have a fix from Smartsound.

1. Closed Power Director
2. Navigate on your computer c: drive to programdata\smatsoundsoftwareince\libraries
3. Delete local.ssdb file
4. Start Power Director again.
5. Cllick on squiglley line for Music magic
6. Click on Smartsound button
7. Window opens up to rebuild Smartsoun library - click on button at bottom of window.
8. Reload project and your long lost Smartsound tracks reappear!!!!

This method should work for other Smartsound problems if music database is damaged it rebuilds new one.

Enjoy the relief,
Johnny Jet

That is the long way around.

Click on the Magic Music, click on Smartsound button, on the About tab, click rebuild Database.

Hi Carl.
Hope that you can help on PD10 (64 bit) with Smartsound. I've reloaded the program and am unable to get the songs to apply to the timeline. I can review the song in preview, but the song will not apply to the timeline. I tried your approach, plus Johnnyjet 7's. Still can't drag a selected song to the timeline. Any other suggestions?

Only the bold songs are available without purchase.

It you have chosen a song that is not bold then you click on the purchase button to buy that song. I think the price is about $30 per song.

This is the link to the smartsound download for updates.

If you do not have the full smartsound, you might try the full installer. It includes the smartsound library.
Download Full SmartSound Quicktracks 5.1.8 installer and Common Data Installer (204mb)

It you are using the Powerdirector 10 Trial, there is a limited number of SmartSound songs available for free.
There are more free songs in the full Powerdirector 10 ULTRA.
