No 50i option when burning 3D BD from 3D 1080i source (Sony TD10)

Hi Everyone, I realise this subject has been posted elsware in the forum but I am looking for a workaround to this issue.

I have imported 3D files from the TD10 into Sony's PMB and the footage is imported as dual full frame 1080i. When I add the files to the edit window in CPD10 they again report a 1080i res. After editing we then go to Create Disc window where the only option when burning BD-3D is 1080 24p. Apart from the issue with jerky flow in fast action shots the rendering time for a 25Gb disk is 16Hrs!!! If the native res is 1080i the render time (apart from edits) surely must be zero if Cyberink could burn the disk with native res.

Oh, I am on Win7 64Bit with athalon quad core and 8Gb ram so I think my spec is o.k but 16Hrs for render

Any suggestions (hardware, file conversion etc) all welcome...Thanks in advance

That is not an issue of the PD10, but an issue of the limitations from the 3D Blu Ray specification - what allows only 1080 24p, 720 50p and 720 60p.

So if you come from 1080 50i take 720 50p - and if you use 1080 60i use 720 60p. Quality losses are limited, due to the fact that 1080i looses resolution due to interline flicker in any case.

It is also no good idea to render 1080i to 1080 24p - here you will see a lot of quality losses too. Kind regards,
Wolfgang

Thanks for the info Wolfgang.

I am fairly new to all this and the 3D-BD setting was the default one. Incidently there was no option for utilising the SVRT or TrueVelocity rendering engines as these were grayed out for the 3D-BD option.

I will try the 720 50p route next time but as I incorporate a lot of Slo-mo I think interlaced would have been better as Progressive full frame was a little jerky on earlier productions

(as I type the render time has just gone up from 16hrs to 21!, I may abandon the task and start again)

Cheers
