I have some WMV profiles that were created (by Dafydd, I think) for PD8, they should work for PD10.

If you put them in the correct folder.

This is where they are for PD9 Ultra 64 bit on Windows 7 64 bit.
C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector\Language\Enu\Profiles

Unzip the profiles and copy them to the above folder.

If the custom profiles you created aren't showing up correctly in PD's Produce interface, it would usually be because you've not followed the correct (internal &/or external) naming protocol. To give credit where it's due, it was Dafydd who alerted me to that when I was first learning it.

The attached profiles (made by moi) include the HD profiles Carl posted, and also a number of others that are useful for lower res production (ranging from 464x260 to 1280x720, with various bitrates).

To have the profiles available in PD10 (as you'd know) the .prx files (not the folder) need to be stored in C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector10\Language\Enu\Profiles

Thanks a lot for the given "pro(files)" and the professional support !
I have downloaded and simply dropped few of them into the destination folder (in my case since the interface is Italian
my destination folder is ........\Language\ITA\Profiles). Thus they work perfectly! and I see them from the "produce"
dropdown menu. I also tested them and the output video is OK !
I was interested mainly in using 640x360 and 960 x 540 profile , i.e. smaller then the built-in profiles which produce great quality videos but extremely large files . So far my problem is solved 'cause you gave me a lot of new profiles

However it remains a big doubt to me about what I shall do to edit the existing profiles. I have followed both the tutorials you mention but without success. May be that my WM Profile Editor is not OK (?) it is version 9.0.0.2980 (2002)
My purpose is now at least to modify the name or the notes of the existing wmv profiles to let me see the video size
from the dropdown menu of "Produce" because some of them simply say "High quality" etc.. but I would need to know
the output resolution before to export (exactly as you did in the names of provided profiles).

Glad you're getting it sorted.

I doubt whether the version of WM Profile Editor you're using is the issue. The simplest thing to do is to attach one of the .prx files here (one of the ones that aren't showing up in PD) & members can assist.

Finally I have solved the problem.....and it is funny !!(and could be interesting for someone else having the same issue)
The problem was : Following the procedure shown on the video tutorial(s) I was unable to find the new or modified profiles from the "Produce" dropdown menu.
The worst is that I was unable to find them even in the "Profile" folder where I had saved them !!
After hours of hunting these "Test Profiles" I find that even if I'm saving them in the proper folder
they are instead located in a newely created folder which is
C:\Users\Name\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector10\Language\Ita\Profiles
(please note that the folder "AppData" is an hidden folder and all the other subfolders are created at once when I save the file)
The solution is : I simply cut the profile from this folder and place it into the correct one.
And now all the Profiles (new or modified) are visible in the "Produce" menu.

I don't know the reason of this PC behaviour but the important is to have found a solution

I have had Windows 7 64 bit do strange things also.

Hello! I'm working with PowerDirector 11 and I managed to get these additional .wmv profiles to work. Thank you! However, I need a very specific .wmv profile. Could you provide me with the following profile?

Format: .wmv
Resolution: 640 X 480
Frame Rate: 30 fps
Bit Rate: 600 kpbs
Audio: 64 kbps, 48 kHz stereo

Just drop them in C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDirector10\Language\Enu\Profiles (whoops! I posted the file location for PD11 before)

I've been able to edit profiles before, but when it comes to changing the sample rate I keep getting stuck on nBlockAlign...I can't figure out how to reach the correct value for that. I'm using PD11 if that makes any difference. Would appreciate any help or advice anyone could provide!

Thanks for your reply! These profiles seem to work for changing the sample rate to 48 kHz, but the audio bit rate is still 192 kbps. I'm looking for 384 kbps (or at least 320 kbps if 384 is not possible on a WMV profile) with a 48 kHz sample rate. Would you happen to know how to do that? Thanks so much!

I neglected to change the audio settings.

320kbps 44kHz is the best you can do with editing WMV profiles. Try the attached profiles.

Strange that they would allow 48 kHz at a lower bit rate of 192 mbps, but not at a higher bit rate. But in any case, thanks so much for clarifying this for me, Tony. You've been a great help! I've been using PD for years and this is my first time on the forum. I'll definitely make this my first stop the next time I have a question.
