What is the better DVD option?

Which of the 2 options below would produce the best quality DVD?
a. producing a file then using Nero to produce a DVD from this file or
b. Burning the file to a folder and using this folder as the source for the DVD (again using Nero).

The edited file would be a .mts file but I need to create the best DVDs for those without a blu-ray player.
I'm wanting a standard DVD, not an AVCHD disc.

Any information would greatly appreciated.

Hi Terry,
This is a CyberLink PowerDirector Forum and for the discussion of that product and others within the CyberLink portfolio.

For example: Power2Go is CyberLink's disc burning software.

If I was asked on what I do with a project for a disc i would say i use two methods.

1. I create to folder and use a disc burning software to write the disc*
2. I write the disc using PD10's Create to disc > Burn disc capability.

*I have always considered the strain placed on my PC during the render/write process of disc burning. By Creating to a folder one is splitting the task and freeing resources of a PC to concentrate on one task. For me this action is a carry over from using CD's on lower powered units. It does however still apply since PC's today have larger files and are "on the edge". On preference i would split a task.

I'll definitely be giving the Windows DVD Maker option a try, but I'm very confused as to why it works . . . !

My apologies for seeming to advocate another product. I'm extremely happy with PowerDirector and what it can produce.
Basically my question is:
Is it better to produce a single file, then burn it to disk or burn to a folder and produce the disk from that source.

Thanks Dafydd, I'll use your first option.

It makes no difference since the original file is rendered by PD. The writing is a straight forward process that is not software dependent. Burn away anyway you feel comfortable with. Win 10, i7

Also thanks HDedit. It appears I should have no concerns either way.
