Nick111,
welcome to the forum.
If you are having an issue, perhaps you'd like to start your own thread (in the v12 room), and provide for us some basic information.

I bought Power Director 13 yesterday and I'm having the same issue as well. I've tried the solution that worked by the other user... but that doesn't seem to be working. I think it's the file itself that's having problems with Power Director, because when I try saving just the videos, no cuts, in an entirely new project, it freezes at the 20% saving window. When I saved the videos in Power Director 11, it didn't freeze while saving. Still waiting for technical support to get back to me.

It would be best to begin a new thread in the PD13 forum.

Test your project without a menu, or change to another menu template, and see if results improve.

It is also happening to me on PowerDirector12 - "Pack Project Materials"
The program hangs at 27% when "Saving Title Thumbnails" appears,
BUT ... Although it seems that the program is not responding if I continue to wait for about 10 minutes the save continues and manages to complete.

UPDATE: I was emailing Cyberlink, back and forth, and finally the last response was this:

"We would suggest you to delete the temporary files manually by clicking on the "Manually Delete" button under preferences ->General tab.

Also, we would suggest you to disconnect the extended monitor and then restart PowerDirector with administrative mode (Right click on PowerDirector icon and choose option "Run as administrator") and check whether it makes any difference.

If issue persists, we would request you to reinstall iTunes."

I was out of town, so I never tried their solution. I don't think it would've worked anyhow.

But, I noticed that PowerDirector had a patch update recently. You can find them here:

http://www.cyberlink.com/support/powerdirector-ultra/patches_en_US.html

I downloaded the updates from November and December 2014, and now I can save the projects I couldn't save before! Hopefully, this will be a permanent fix!

Still not solved apparently. It is not consistent. I can do a few edits and then its locks. I've gotten in the habit of trying to save after every edit but then it locks during saving. I will finish this simple short project and then look for another editing program.

That's too bad, confundido. Same here. The bugs are a real annoyance, but then when it starts working right and you know how to avoid when it gets glitchy, it's hard to want to get another program-- because you're so used to what works! For sure, I'm not going to get the next version because every time I switch to an updated version have to deal with some major bugs. Good luck!

There are quite a number of things that could be causing your crashes, some of which are related to PD and some are more system related.

I don't know anything about either or your machines and I don't even know which versions you are running. You guys are posting on a thread for PD10 from 2011 but it appears that Collette has PD13.

Far and away the best thing to do to resolve your issues is to start a new thread (in this or the PD13 forum) and post the results of the DxDiag test as described in the "Welcome" sticky.

The crashes you're describing aren't typical and so you'd want to check that PD itself is updated with the latest patch (for PD13 it's v3130 from Aug) and also check your video drivers to make sure they're current.

There are a lot of things that can go wrong "under the hood" in Windows that don't always show up unless you push your system like editing does, and if either of you are willing to run the test I'm sure people here will be able to figure out what's going on and get you guys running again.

I'd hoped I could figure out how to avoid the glitches but I ultimately couldn't do anything without it locking. I had made it through the tough stuff, editing the video and all, and was just adding captions. It slowly started getting sick, sometimes simple operations taking a long time, and then finally just locking hard on about anything I tried. When it started locking on my safety saves I knew I was in trouble.

Like I said, that sounds a lot like Windows is messed up on some level and PD is how the symptoms are showing up.

If you've got the latest video drivers and patches for PD, you might really benefit from running Windows System File Checker and see what it can find. Search the forum for SFC in any of my posts for more details, or start a new post with your DxDiag results and I can help there

Sorry, this thread just came up 1st when I searched for "lock powerdirector saving chapter titles" or some such. I do my projects between the cracks and have precious little time so I'm afraid I won't be able to run the diagnostics stuff. PD frankly has too many features. I just need non-linear editing and basic captioning.

Btw, my system runs fairly heavy audio DAW software (SONAR to be exact) without issues.

I know that's not doing video but the lockups always occur doing non-video stuff, mostly just housekeeping things seems like.

Please start a new topic/thread for your issue rather than resurrect/hijack another editor's thread. This thread dates from late December 2011 and was resolved by 2011/12/31. All subsequent posts requesting answers, are attempts to resurrect an answered/resolved thread. Senior members have guided many to post as a new topic and yet still more posts have been made! To prevent further additions, thread closed.
