I'm tearing my hair out over this.
BACKGROUND
I've been working on my first PD project having changed from Adobe Premiere because it was too slow. I've imported my holiday video - about 300 clips - and have been editing it, adding transitions, text and a soundtrack.
I had a problem a few days ago when trying to modify a soundtrack clip in WaveEditor - which promptly crashed. I decided to avoid WE but an hour later I noticed that the audio and video clips from a certain point in the timeline had gone out of sync - by exactly 2 seconds. I tried unlinking the A/V of one clip and moving the audio back into line with the video. This worked, but I wasn't about to do the same for the other 299 clips, so I tried using Undo instead. After about 30 undo's (most of which took over 50 seconds to process) the timeline suddenly went back into sync. Whew! I took a backup and carried on, saving my project manually every 5 mins or so (I also have autosave enabled).
CURRENT PROBLEM
Last night when I finished editing everything was looking good. Ready to add some more soundtrack clips and finish the editing this weekend.
Fast forward to this evening. I came home from work, fired up the PC and started PD. As soon as the project loaded I couldn't believe my eyes - the timeline was totally messed up again. About 3 minutes into the timeline I find clip whose audio is now 4 seconds ahead of its video. I then have a few images, but now two of them seem to have doubled up (two copies of the same image overlapping each other). Then comes an 'orphan' audio clip - its video has disappeared from the timeline. Following this, subsequent clips have their audio 5 seconds behind the video, but - get this - when I select a clip, its audio is now linked with the following video clip, and this staggered formation continues for the next 6 minutes (about 25 clips). We then have 2 color boards (no sound obviously) then subsequent clips have audio ahead of video again by 4 seconds.
I don't want to ramble on too long, but hopefully you get the idea. And having just loaded the project I don't have the Undo option available this time.
If this is a bug, I would be quite prepared to work around it if I could select all my clips, unlink the A/V then move the audio to a separate track and keep it in sync manually - if anyone knows how I can select and unlink a range of clips I would appreciate hearing from you, or any other suggestions welcome.
