Frozen Frames at end of every clip in PD10

I am experiencing an issue where both the preview window and produced files freeze on the last 12 - 30 frames of every clip. I am using 1920x1080 24Mbps avc clips from Canon HF M301. I have tested multiple clips and it is the very last frames of each clip that are "frozen". I am using the PD10-1012 Trial. I have the full version of PD9-3305 and do not experience these issues. I have imported the same clips into PD9 and PD10. This issue only shows up in PD10.

I have attached a short clip to demonstrate (see the cat's movement freeze at the end). This is the raw file from my camera without processing. The length of the clip does not matter - the same problem occurs on longer ones also.

Can someone let me know if you have the same issue with this file?
Could this be related to the trial version?

Thank you.

I do not see the frozen frame in my system. Probably NOT related to the TRIAL.
Please go to the link below and provide the item requested in PART B:

Try the following:

1. Go into PD10, PREFERENCES and UNCHECK the boxes in the Hardware Acceleration section (while you are in there, make sure that "Shadow files" is turned OFF)

2. Under the preview window click the icon that lets you set the resolution of the preview display and set it up (HD) or down... testing each level.

I verified that shadow files are off (tried it both ways). I tried hardware on/off, OpenCL on/off at all the settings of preview quality. Same result. If I step through the clip frame-by-frame the last 12 frames or so are either black or have no motion. It happens quickly at full speed but it is obvious when going frame-by-frame. Do you experience the same issue?

Thanks.

OK...since I can not reproduce the issue (I put multiple copies of your clip in the timeline and moved back and forth...plays without pause) and it appears that your machine is adequate, I will reverse my comment from above and say it MAY be related to the trial.

There are some limitations in the TRAIL and it is not COMPLETELY clear just how many! More appear each day.

I can tell you I do NOT get the same results in the registered version of PD10.

There are others here who use the ATI cards..maybe they have seen this issue.

Thank you very much for the help. Do you mind asking some others there if they have experienced this issue?

They are here (forum members) and will reply if they have anything to contribute. Global forum, timezones apply...give it time.

HD PD .Yes I am getting the same results as you. not only at the end of the clip, but also at the start. I downloaded your clip of the cat running across the verandah, it took one step backwards at the start and then a frame froze at the end. clever cat. Graeme

Yes, I had the frame at the end freeze on my system also using Windows Media Player, not Cyberlink.
I am using a ATI card.
Nice cat!

Graeme1946 and twincitybulldog, are you using the full or trial version of PD10?

Graeme1946, what graphics card are you using?

We enjoy that cat!

I am using the full version of PD10. I noticed the frozen frame in my PD10 at the last frame, but I also opened your cat file in Windows Media Player and also saw the last frame frozen using the Media Player but not quite the same.
Try opening your file in Medai Player and see what I mean.
I'm not sure your problem is with Cyberlink PD10. Windows 8 Pro 64bit

HD PD I am using the full version PD 10 and the latest update. AMD Phenom11x6. 16gb Ram memory. ATI Radeon series HD 5850 with the latest driver. Also, in windows media player it does the same.Windows 7 home premium. With this system, since PD8 Ihave never had a lock up or crash, which is great. But the quailty of the video is terrible.Cannot win.

Graeme and twincitybulldog, I do see issues with the very last frame in WM. Do you only have one frozen frame at the end of the clip in PD? I have approximately 12 to 30 frozen frames at the end of my clips ip PD.

Hi HD_PD

Downloaded and tested your clip in my laptop's PD10 Ultra (full). Upon a regular playback, the clip seems fine.

When using the frame advance key, I count a total of 43 frames, and notice that with each frame, from first to last, that the cat is in motion.
But... I do also notice that frames 42 and 43 are identical.

I then Produced to Mpeg2 BD 1920x1080, which yielded the following results.
Note: All my hardware acceleration options and Quick Sync technology was turned on.
- I now counted only 36 total frames (using the frame advance button).
- Frames 18 and 19 were identical
- Frame 20 displayed as a black screen
- Frames 31 through 36 were identical (i.e. Frozen), with 7 frames apparently missing (?)

I then Produced again to the Mpeg2 BD 1920x1080 profile.
Note: This time, turned off all HA options.
- This render yielded the same total, of 43 frames, as your sample clip.
- Frames 42 and 43 were once again identical

Not withstanding the change in the total number of frames between the two renders, I also noticed (in Properties), a slight change in the reported bit rate between the HA(on) and HA(off) renders.

I know this doesn't help resolve your issue. I'm not tech savvy enough to draw any conclusions. Just offering (for what it's worth), these results for the record.
Hope you, or CL, gets it sorted out.

HD-PD I downloaded your video again and saved it. Played it first as your raw file throughPowerDVD10 and got frozen frames at the beginning and end of the file(.In between was excellent.)Then I drag and dropped it in to power director 10( full version) it would not accept it because it was NTSC., as you stated a raw file straight from your video camera. when I agree for PD 10 to change it to PAL (Australia) because that is what I set my camera and PD 10 to it played fine without any hesitations. Could this be the answer, I am no guru in this field so could someone check it out, please? Graeme.
