Effects all lag and/or speed up vid clips
[Post New]
Hi - I'm new to PD9 Ultra64 and PD10 (trial version)

I'm trying to sync up video clips of a singer/songwriter w/ a mastered audio track. Each time I add an effect, it either lags, freezes, or fast forwards the beginning of the particular clip it's added to...making syncing up w/ master track nearly impossible (singers lips don't match audio - if I ad any effect whatsoever) Even the transitions are not smooth and do not look professional, both in the viewer prior to rendering and after rendering. Any suggestions would be truly appreciated.

Also how do make customer support understand I purchased a PD9 Ultra64 download on October 7, 2011 (three days prior to the release of PD10 Ultra)...beyond just telling them exactly that (which I did.) The support folks said I wasn't eligible for a free upgrade? I provided all online purchase receipts/emails, etc. Perhaps they confused 10-7-2011 (as written in the USA) with 7-10-2011 (used elsewhere) ... so apparently they never even looked at any documentation or read past the first line. ???

Nonetheless, I have the same exact issue w/ both versions...can't ad effects without lag, freeze, or initial fast forward to the clip the effect is added to, and the transitions are somewhat jerky-looking. Also had this issue w/ PD9 Ultra64 prior to installing PD10 trial.

I have AVS video editor and Adobe CS5 Master Suite w/Premier Pro [which hates me and attempted to kill me by creating stabbing migraines in my newbie video-editing brain] installed on my laptop as well - but I'm not using those and they don't appear to be running in the task manager.

have you tried locking the audio track, or unlinking the audio, so that effects are only applied to video track. There is a very good tutorial on director zone on how to do that. I don't do very much sync stuff. hopefully someone else with more experience will chime in. RTX 2060 SUPER 8GB GDDR6

Did you try to produce the video and see if the delays and lags are still there? Or, reduce the preview setting to something lower than where you are now and see if the delays go away. I'm thinking your issue may be video card related.

I have tried locking the track; effects on vid only. Still has lag time/frozen frames wherever I've applied an effect, etc. I am on my way to check out the tutorial on youtube...Thanks!

I also thought it could be a graphics card and/or driver issue. My card is compatible according to the info I read on the forum from the editors. My driver was not outdated according to Dell, but I installed the latest driver for my card from Nvidia. It worked better ... at first. Currently my PD9 Ultra64 is stuck/frozen on the screen. I can pull up PD 10 trial but cannot import any files/folders into it.

All video clips of the singer are .mov files...filmed w/ a Sony Everio HDD 30GB HD Video Camera filmed in 16:9 HD. I was playing w/ PD9 settings in front of the singer. If I tell the program the clips are in 4:3 and tick use CLVP (or whatever that is) to stretch it to 16:9 [the vid will be in 16:9] ... he thinks he looks thinner and nicer (he does)... He doesn't want me to change it. Could that cause this issue? If so, he'll have to re-film and suck in his cheeks LOL

Thanks !

Jules

Your video-card driver appears to be over a year old, but you say you updated it.
Your other editing programs MIGHT be interfering also.
Try with and without hardware acceleration.
Disable Shadow-files generation, you should not need it.
Try a re-install of PD.

Thanks Barry... I did update the video card driver yesterday, but did it after I did the dxdiag thing. I now have the 285.62 driver from the Nvidia site.

Will try w/o hardware acceleration. Jules
