Upgrade to PowerDirector 10 Ultra Problems

I purchased the non-Retail upgrade from Versions 8/9 to 10 Ultra. The file that was sent is CyberLink.PDR10NR_toUltra_1005_GM2_113320_VDE110927-02.exe . When I try to install, it is asking for the old key to version 10 which is not installed on my machine. I downloaded the product a second time with the same results.

If I re-purchase version 10 and install it and then upgrade to Ultra it will cost another $60 or so. How can I untangle this mess?

Thanks in advance

BTW I read another thread concerning the same problem and the answerer did nothing but doubt the questioner.

The key here is the name of the downloaded exe which states in its filename that it is an upgrade from version 10 to 10 Ultra. I think they are sending the wrong exe with purchase of an upgrade from 8/9 to 10 Ultra.

Have you got this sorted out? I have the same problem. Purchased an upgrade from non-retail version 8/9 to PD 10 Ultra. Got this file for download (one of four), CyberLink.PDR10NR_toUltra_1005_GM2_113320_VDE110927-02.exe but get the same strange error message as you.

Have sent a technical support issue to Cyberlink but no reply yet.

Hi,
I can understand the confusion on which upgrade to purchase and to apply.

I have attached some images that may assist you with the installation. Below are some links and data I had on the subject.

*******************************

Also some links to look up:
1. FAQ: Which version of CyberLink PowerDirector can I upgrade from? (Except CHT/JPN users)
http://www.cyberlink.com/prog/support/cs/product-faq-content.do?id=12846

2. Information:
If you own a previous version of CyberLink PowerDirector, you can upgrade the program to the latest version at a lower price. Please refer to the below suggestions to make the best
choice.
If you already own the Ultra or Deluxe version of PowerDirector 8 or 9, select…
Upgrade from v.8/9 Retail versions to upgrade to PowerDirector 10 Ultra or Deluxe.

If you already own the Ultra or Deluxe version of PowerDirector 8 or 9 that came with CyberLink Media Suite 9, select…
Upgrade from v.8/9 Retail versions to upgrade to PowerDirector 10 Ultra or Deluxe.

If you already own the HE/DE/LE version of PowerDirector 8 or 9 that came bundled with hardware, select…
Upgrade from v.8/9 non-Retail versions to upgrade to PowerDirector 10 Ultra or Deluxe.

If you already own the HE/DE/LE version of PowerDirector 8 or 9 that came with CyberLink Media Suite 8, select…
Upgrade from v.8/9 non-Retail versions to upgrade to PowerDirector 10 Ultra or Deluxe.

3. FAQ: How do I install CyberLink PowerDirector 10? (Except CHT/JPN users)
http://www.cyberlink.com/prog/support/cs/faq-content.do?id=12788

If you purchased the upgrade version of CyberLink PowerDirector:
To install an upgrade version of CyberLink PowerDirector, a previous version of the program must be installed. But if you have the Ultra or Deluxe version of PowerDirector 8, 9, you
will be asked to enter your original Ultra/Deluxe serial number (activation key) during installation if you don’t have it installed.

If PDR8, 9 doesn’t installed, when installing PDR10 upgrade version, the program will ask for PDR8, 9 Ultra/Deluxe CD-Key in the beginning

Thanks for this valuable information. The FAQ only talks about the "Retail versions" but I ordered the upgrade from 8/9 non-retail versions. But hopefully the upgrade procedure is the same, right?

I have tried with the activation key from my upgrade purchase to version 9 which I bought in September but with the same result, "aborted installation". I guess I can try with the activation key from my version 8 as well.

Note: I started with the full version of PowerDirector 8. Bought a non-retail upgrade to version 9 Ultra in September. And now I bought a non-retail upgrade to version 10 Ultra. Maybe I bought the wrong upgrade?

This is a bit confusing to say the least ;

/Andreas

I have asked for clarification from CyberLink and referred your post.

You will need to clarify very clearly what versions of PD8/9 you have as they're your starting points.

I don't have any answers for you until I get something back from CyberLink.

Thanks!

- I upgraded from the latest build (3022) of version 8 (downloaded) to version 9 Ultra (non-retail upgrade, downloaded).
- The version 9 Ultra was on the latest build (3305).
- I purchased a non-retail 8/9 upgrade to version 10 ultra

I'm on Windows 7 64 bit.

Hi.

It looks to me you purchased the wrong upgrade.

From CL:
Perhaps user purchased the wrong upgrade version. If he own PDR8 or 9 Ultra/Deluxe, he should select purchase upgrade from retail versions. If he purchased within 30 days, he can refund for the wrong version and purchase again.
See return policy here: http://store.cyberlink.com/store?Action=DisplayReturnAndCancellationsPage&Env=BASE&Locale=en_US&SiteID=clinkus
PS: non-retail version means PDR8/9 HE/DE/LE versions which bundled with hardware.

Does that help, a little?

This is very confusing. I received this email from Cyberlink after signing up for the forum here. I do NOT have the trial, nor any previous version of PD.

Will I be getting the FULL version with this special, if I purchase via this link in the email?

Randy

Hi Randy,
I think your post is not needed here and is "muddying the water" a bit onto a tangential issue. Please post as a NEW topic. Thanks
