Hello,

New to this forum. Not yet a user of PD, but considering.
Have a dual monitor setup that I use for original music production in my humble home studio. Thinking of using PD as an editor to make vids to go with my music.

Would like to know if the rooms in PD can be dragged to separate monitors. Or if and how PD can use a dual or multi-monitors.

Thank you,

Duff Did you hear?

Hi Duff,
I have used a dual monitor set up for editing for years. PD is a single monitor editing platform. If you wanted to stretched across both monitors or moved from one to the other you could. I have never had the need to alter the one monitor display other than resize rooms, preview and tracks. The rooms are moveable within the interface. I have asked for independent rooms but that hasn't happened. I suggest you download and test the trial. http://www.cyberlink.com/downloads/trials/index_en_US.html

I use my second monitor to display and use CyberLink's MediaShow, allowing me to select and play video independent of PD.

Hi Duff,

as of now- no.
Someone might have a workaround of some sort,
but for now, you can only adjust UI within one monitor.
Maybe in #10?

Edit; well...there you go: a workaround??

Thanks to you both for timely response! Wonderful to see this kind of support within the user forum.

I do intend to install the trial, hopefully this evening.

Dual monitor support is not a deal breaker. However it would be nice. I know it greatly improved my audio work flow allowing my effects panel, project clock, undo history, ect., to be continually open and referenced in the second monitor.

Again, thank you.

Duff

You can use two monitors with PowerDirector, under display option the preview can be displayed on second monitor (full screen). It works very well. Check the pdf manual, page 13. RTX 2060 SUPER 8GB GDDR6

Good one RS.

Hi Duff,

Like RS stated...

Yep, use the same setup : 1 monitor to work the work, the other one to see the work :))

Works perfect,

Hugo

Hi all,

hate to be particular, but I feel I have to go in with a short comment;

original question from Duff was:

Would like to know if the rooms in PD can be dragged to separate monitors.
Or if and how PD can use a dual or multi-monitors

The rooms in PD, so far, can not be dragged to dual/multi monitors.
Some other NLE's have composed their UI in a way that different windows
can be shifted around, either in 1 monitor or several, you can choose to
make your own UI's and save them for different edit tasks, you can close
or open different windows in whatever UI you make at will and wish.

But yes, if you want your preview window quite big, you glue it to
another monitor.

Just something.

1. The rooms point was answered previously
2. The second part "Or if and how PD can use a dual or multi-monitors" is applicable and answered by RS with additions by Hugo.

Edited out a section, unnecessary.

I wasn't aware of that feature. Do you mean re-ordered or re-organised within the UI, Dafydd?

Cheers - Tony

+1 to using the second screen for the preview window. That's a must for me. I can have my tracks as large as I want, and throughout a project am constantly looking to see how it's looking on the second monitor, full screen.

So you can't expand the width of your tracks on to the second screen, but having your second monitor as a full screen preview is very handy.
