PD9 install fails

Several attempts at installing PowerDirector Ultra64 9.0.0.2930 on my workstation have failed. I successfully installed the app using the same install files on my laptop, though. Cyberlink support is attempting to help but I'm hoping there are some solutions here on the forum.

After completing the installation, then launching the app, just before the six stock photos load into the project, I get a generic Windows error:

Power Director has stopped working

I opened a debugger and found this statement:

An unhandled exception occurred in PDR9.exe [5780]

After rooting around a little more, I found this statement:

Unhandled exception at 0x5605bb69 in PDR9.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x5605bb69.

I tried uninstalling and re-installing several times. I have installed all Windows 7 updates and verified that all the drivers are up to date. I downloaded and ran CLCleaner applications to uninstall, then re-installed and still get the same errors.

I'm guessing that there is some sort of registry clash with some other application.

All my system diagnostics are attached.

Please let me know if I ought to provide more information.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Sounds possibly like you need to install As Administrator--right click choice.

Thanks RB but I'm already a local Admin and I did try running as Administrator anyway. However, I'll clean everything out and try that again.

I did not have this problem on my laptop, where I am also a local Admin...

Hi, Charlie

Microsoft has us by the b@!!z with this permission stuff. I'm also the the local Admin, I'm the only person who uses this computer, but no matter what settings I use, I'm often told I need higher permissions - and I always wonder, what?--do I pray to God now for intervention? It's crazy. But I've had several software install problems which ended up being solved by simply going ahead and right clicking, running as the Admin, even though I'm already that. It's crazy mon!
