Did you try the Mpeg2 HQ for standard DVD?
In disk preferences, select DVD, 8.5 GB if needed.
for disk quality select Mpeg-2 HQ.

I recommend burning a Folder only. Once the folder is successful, you then use a disk authoring software to burn the folder to a disk.

PD9 should render the HD video on the timeline to a Standard DVD.
It will take a bit of time because everything has to be rendered to 720x480 NTSC or 720x576 PAL for a standard DVD.

No, I haven't tried that method.......does that mean I will create the project as a hard disk file and then use something like Nero to burn that to standard DVD ?
If so it's not a problem as I can do that........but I'd have thought PD would have been able to do that for me !

Yes, that is correct.

PD does not have the ability to burn a disk from the folder that it creates.

Nero is great, I use it.

Use the DVD Video profile, then place the files in the My Video\VIDEO_TS folder in the VIDEO_TS folder in the Nero compilation.

I never burn a disk directly in PD, too many Coasters. If anything goes wrong you have a drink coaster!
With the folder option, you just try again, it is just hard drive space.

No Nero is not free! You can download a demo to use for 30days(?) but after that you have to register, and the demo watermarks.
ImgBurn is free and will burn a folder and comes in 32/64 bit programs I think.

You can download a free trial for 30 days, but after that it is dead.

Nero Burning Rom 10 is only $50. You do not have to buy the whole suite. All you need is Burning Rom.

I currently am using Nero 9. I have Nero 7 on other computers.
I can burn BluRay disks with either version. All that is needed is a BluRay Burner.

There are free disk burning programs.
ImgBurn is one.

Cyberlink has a disk burning application.
Cyberlink has Power2Go. Not free.

Under certain conditions you can get Power2Go for free.
Power2Go is available on the PowerDirector 9 Ultra 64 DVD. If you bought the Boxed set instead of the Download.

Hmmm not quite true ....I DID buy the boxed set and sure enough it is on there....but only a 30 day trial !

...worse still I then found out that my purchased copy of Nero (from a well known on line auction site) is in fact a pirated copy .....so am now trying imgburn.....

edit : imgburn won't shrink an 8gb MPEG2 to a 4.7Gb DVD......and neither will Power2Go ...
