What video format do I use?
[Post New]
I have a 3 minute video which I want to upload to YouTube and Facebook but what format should I render my video? I'm not sure what .AVI, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, .MOV, .MMV, etc. mean anyway. What are those formats for?? I am relatively new to Power Director and I can't wait to upload a video. Thank you for your answers! Rob :

Hi Rob,

here's a couple of links you might go to:

http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?answer=55744

http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?answer=132460

It varies what format we use.
It more or less depends on video source, eye of the beholder/taste/opinion,
video duration etc. etc.
Just something.

Nina's links are great.

True answer, depends on many factors.

But, for easy and smaller files use the WMV Standard HD profile.
That is a 1280x720 Profile and uploads a 720P video to Youtube.

Within Powerdirector you can upload Video to Youtube using the Youtube profiles.

I prefer to upload video using my own WMV profile and Youtube's Upload.

You can also upload using H.264 AVCHD profiles, but the file size is larger.

Which format should I use for home playback

Whichever one you like and looks good to you.

You check your home player's spec and see what formats it will play.

BluRay players play BluRay Disks which you can create in the Create Disk Module if you have a BluRay burner and are using the Ultra version of Power Director 9.

Standard DVD is a low resolution output, but if done in the Create Disk Module, will play in any DVD player.
